I have used crystal trilobal hackle to tie steelhead hammers, and it works perfectly.

I was expecting thinner trilobal hair for caddis shucks and this just won't work for me but I will use it for something else.
I love this stuff! -

I use the trilobal fibers for creating bodies on a few bass and trout streamers. It also works great for collars when you want to add that extra flash of red gills on a sculpin pattern. The price is a bit steep but you get a lot of material in one bag and the effect it creates is great. To offer a comparison, the fibers are longer and more fluid than estaz which is a little more rigid of a material, I'd say.

I used thismaterial to tie the heads on Murdich minnows. It produces a larger head than Astaz and is very sparkly and colors well with a marker. Its also a good value for the price.
