Rated 5 out of 5 by from Way Better Than I Expected I love my two Battenkill I reels!! I built two new rods, a 2wt and a 3wt and still needed reels for both. I searched all around for some small, cheap click and pawl reels. I didn't like what I saw in the "cheap" range and had to up my game a little. I found the Orvis Battenkill size I, but honestly didn't quite like its looks from pictures. I thought it looked a little too retro and especially the IV and V models. I "settled" for two Battenkills I. Unexpectedly, I was way happy with how the looked when I opened them up. They don't look retro at all, they are beautiful! The internal 4 position drag is easily adjustable and much needed for 2 and 3 wt rods. if you are look at these Battenkills, at least the I, II and III, and undecided, don't be. They are way better than you are thinking, as well as nice looking!! Do it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Battenkill Reel II I have friends that use the Battenkill reel and decided to purchase one. I love the narrow spool and the quality construction. Will use it on our trout streams in N. Wisconsin and the U.P. of Michigan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You will like it also I received from a friend awhile back an Orvis Battenkill 8.5' 9wt older Bambo Fly Rod, in excellent condition. In order to honor that rod and my friend I purchased the Battenkill IV Reel to match that Rod and I'm pleased that I did, it is a Very Nice Reel. I will now use that set-up for slinging big bugs at Large Mouth Bass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super lightweight I bought a BKII a few years ago and LOVE it. I haven't had any problems whatsoever. I love it because I get flawless drag when it's needed, compact size, and very lightweight- which was my main reason for purchasing. The DT 3WT line that was spooled on it has worked well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing reel...but the colour? I bought this reel thinking it would be gun metal grey like the picture on the website but when I got the reel it was grey/purple. The reel is for my Scott Japan Special, which is gun-metal grey and it looks terrible with the reel seated (the colouring makes it look like a cheap Zebco). Function should outweigh form and I can say that this reel functions amazingly, by far the best click-drag reels I have owned. But it is a shame that the anodizing (?) makes it look cheap (imho).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Reel. I purchased this reel about a month ago and cannot wait to get it out on the water. I have a two I purchased for my 5 weights and cannot wait to see how this reel performs. I rated at a 4 because I have not been able to get out and use the reel yet.
