durable articulated fly -

I was pretty excited about this fly -- overall I was not disappointed. It has a large profile and displaces a lot of water... but I was able to cast it (ok) with a 6 weight. It seems durable and has held up on the water. Its a light fly but holds a lot of water, so it casts like a heavy fly. It doesn't sink, even when wet. In fast current with a sinking tip I couldn't get it below 4 inches of the surface. This fly is built solid, but it didn't have the attention to detail you would expect. The head cement/fixative used was smeared on one of the holo-eyes. Also, the pattern was tied with the hook canted, so that when you look at the fly head-on the eye is tilted to the right. Overall I would recommend the fly... but in the future I'll just tie something similar myself to get a better quality and to add lead wrap to get it down in the water-column.
