Splitsville Caddis

This caddis dry fly sits lower in the water for accurate presentations.

The Splitsville Caddis was developed on the Delaware system, to deal with the springtime grannoms and nighttime cinnamon caddis, but has worked great around the country, from the Henry's Fork, to the Madison, to the Housatonic, to countless small streams. Because the deer hair wings are split by hackle, hence the name, the fly offers a different silhouette than an Elk Hair or X-Caddis, and represents more of a delta wing profile. The profile represents many different stages of adult caddis, a spent egglayer with splayed wings, a fluttering caddis hopping along to drink water, or a cripple whose wings never really developed upon hatching. Fish it dead drift when fish are sipping spent egg layers at dusk or are picking off newly hatched caddis in spring conditions, but when the bugs are hopping everywhere, it's a great pattern to skate and twitch. For emergers, yanking it under sometimes coaxes a bulging fish that won't otherwise bite. It floats all day, and is really durable.

    Very effective caddis - 1/28/2015
    By: from Ariss, Ontario, Canada

This is my new go to dry caddis! Have fooled a lot of Browns on it. I have it in every color. Just a note: The Peacock body is not as it is in the picture, the picture shows a light color body but it's acually is a peacock hurl color. Still a killer pattern and I have had good luck with it when black caddis are on. Can't go wrong with any of these. They work well!
