weird tailoring -
For some reason they've made "saddlebags" on the sides of the pants just below the waist that I will have to get my tailor to fix. The rest I like so its probably worth the fixing.
OK but not quite as expected -
Good quality and fit, but two surprises: the material is very thin and lightweight by corduroy standards (good for cool but not cold weather) and the color is not what I perceived 'sage' to be; it is a medium brown with none of the olive-gray tints that I expected based on the catalog/on-line pictures and color name. It was not stocked in any Orvis retail stores, so I couldn't 'scratch and sniff' to learn about these qualities before buying. I'll keep the pants but be more cautious with future on-line purchases.
first Orvis purchase -
Excellent fit, and even better comfort. A bit more corduroy and a bit less "jeansie" than pictured in the catalogue, but a good item overall. Dress up or down.
Just Right -

I do not wear a lot of corduroy because of the weight, but these are PERFECT! I will enjoy these even into the Spring. They will fit the occasion.
Great pants, wrong color -
I loved these pants. Great fit, great looks, great value. However, the color was not as advertised. It was a bit too brown for my taste.
I hope he likes it -

I like the weight of the pants and that they look like jeans rather than the same old cords. The fabric is very nice and not too rough- just right for fall and winter wear. These are a Christmas present so the final "vote" is yet to come in.
Great cords -

Very comfortable casual cords! They are a little big in the upper thigh but very comfortable! Typical reliable Orvis quality, great stuff!
|Corduroy: the cloth of kings|
The Fabric of the French Royal Court
Quality corduroy is all about quality yarn. Corduroy takes its name from "cloth of the king," or "cord du roi," fashioned for the sporting use of the French royal court in the 1600s.
Durable, Rugged Comfort
Corduroy is well suited for rugged use. With more yarns per square inch than most fabrics and a distinctive corded nap, corduroy offers durability and protection by construction. Extra yarns in the weft, or horizontal component, pass over the warp yarns, skipping two or three vertical yarns before diving back under the weave. Held securely in the middle by the vertical yarns, the weft yarns are then snipped, freeing both ends, then trimmed and brushed to a fine, soft nap.
High-Quality Milled Fabric
Orvis sources corduroy from the finest mills around the world, mills that weave high-quality yarns into cloths true to corduroy's sporting heritage. The cloth is then brushed to create the soft, sueded finish.
