It truly is wonderful. So nice and soft and elegant. I especially like the way it can be worn different ways with the buttons.......Another classic from Orvis!
Simply Fabulous -
I absolutely love this wrap. Worn with jeans or dress pants - it works perfectly. So cozy and secretly decadent - with that blend of wool and cashmere. Bought it in two colors and receive loads of compliments!
Not as it appears -
I ordered 2 of these, one for myself and one as a gift. They are not at all like the photo, in that they are more like a scarf and less like a wrap. They are very narrow, so I don't know how the photo was shot where it looks like it covers your body. I returned them.
Soft but muchthiner than i expected. -

This item is more like a scarf that buttons than a cape but it feels very soft and I think I'll be able to use it, though differently than I expected.
gift recipient grateful -
gave as gift and recipient was very grateful. I WANT ONE for myself.
Not what I expected -
This is to be a poncho, but they used so little material (yarn) that it's more like a scarf with buttons. Here I thought I was buying a lovely gift for my sister-in-law and had it monogrammed, but there just isn't enough of it. I know models are small, but the model in the photo must be super tiny for this to fit her as pictured.

This is a great wrap for any age or body style. It will be great on my son's girlfriend (age 22, slim) - my Christmas gift to her. I also bought one for myself and recently wore it on business trip to Paris... I wore it as a shawl (as pictured) during the day in the office, then unbuttoned and wore as scarf when we headed out around the city...and even pulled it up over my head as a bit of a hood when the wind was blowing. And very stylish! Goes with dressier clothes, pants, long skirts or easily with jeans. Fabulous purchase!

After admiring this item in the catalog last year, this year I actually bought one in black and have loved it for travel this fall. I'm 5'4", size 8-10 and it is very flattering. I love it with black and neutral pants and skirts as well as jeans, and also as a layering piece over a raincoat or jacket. Folds flat and square and is great on the plane as a warm wrap.
|Cashmere: the fabric of kings|
The ancient fabric of choice for a royal family
Once again, we have Asia to thank for a prized textile. Cashmere is named for the Kashmir goats that inhabit the Himalayas and the mountainous regions of Central Asia that surround the Gobi desert. The harsh, extreme climate of the high desert plateaus are just right for producing the downy undercoat needed to make cashmere yarn. Cashmere was known to the Western world in ancient Roman times and it was the fabric of choice for Tibet’s royal family for centuries. Today, about 60% of the world’s cashmere, or approximately 3,000 tons, comes from Tibet and China.
A Gift from the Gobi
The coat of a Kashmir goat consists of a coarse outer coat, sometimes referred to as guard hair, and the fine downy undercoat, which is used to make cashmere yarn. The goats grow this ultra-soft, insulating inner layer for protection from the wild drops in temperature at night in the mountains and plateaus. This superior fiber is collected annually, during the spring molting season, when the animals naturally shed their winter wool. It is traditionally removed with a comb and separated by hand. Each goat produces a mere four to six ounces of downy fiber a year.
The Timeless Appear of Cashmere
As a knit, cashmere is lightweight and exceptionally warm. The yarn has a soft, silky finish and can be easily dyed. Like silk, cashmere’s exotic origins and sublime softness are timelessly appealing. Orvis is proud to bring you these handsome women’s cashmere sweaters. They are a great value, combining the ultimate in luxury with winter warmth and practicality – a wonderful gift for your friends, family, or yourself.
