This is the place -

This is Sunday and I have spent the past week experiencing everything Blue Mountain Lodge, Alaska has to offer. This lodge has great fishing, good food, wildlife, but no crowds. None. It is small, only six guests at any one time, this makes it friendly with a very comfortable atmosphere. Everyone, staff included, eats at the same table, which is nice. You get to know everyone and leave a bunch of new friends. The meals were all very good; everything is made from scratch, including the bread, which was probably my favorite. The rooms are two suite type setups, twin beds in the main room and a queen bedroom. One bathroom and plenty of hot water. The staff cleaned the room every day, it was comfortable. No crowds, private water. I did not see another fisherman the entire time I was on the Alaskan Peninsula. Tracy and his guides put us on fish all day long: sockeye, pink, chum, and silver; along with rainbows, grayling, dolly’s and arctic char. Sometimes we fished next to the plane, sometimes we would walk for a bit, which was great. We got to see some great places, good scenery, caribou, moose, and plenty of fish everywhere we went. One time we had to take a break and let a very large brown bear “fish through” our spot. We never fished the same water; we even fished one section of the creek that Tracy had never fished. At one point I broke a rod, bringing a dolly to hand; however, Tracy had an Orvis 4 wt Superfine Glass. Who would have thought it was my lucky day to break a rod. The Superfine is a great rod and I was able to land every fish I hooked. What could have been a fishing disaster, turned out to be a pleasant surprise. If you are planning a fishing trip to Alaska, I recommend Blue Mountain Lodge, when I go back to Alaska, it will be to Blue Mountain Lodge. You will not go wrong here; it is a guaranteed good trip. Before you choose your lodge, give Tracy a call and ask him what he has to offer.
Alaska Fly Fishing And Fly Fishing At Its Best -
By: WoolyB from Weston CT
A trip to Blue Mountain Lodge is a passionate fly fisherman’s delight. This is a trip that will truly exceed the fishing expectations of both the hard core and novice alike. This was my third time fishing Alaska and my first trip to Blue Mountain Lodge. The variety of fishing was unparallel based on Blue Mountains fleet of aircraft. Two float planes and three wheeled aircraft gives you the ability to fish areas fished only by Blue Mountain lodge on many occasions as well as access to all major waterways in the area. The very comfortable accommodations at the lodge are highlighted by the family style meals which were excellent. The pilot guides were outstanding both in abilities and knowledge of all waters fished. I would highly recommend this as a must do trip on a fisherman’s list. Very rarely will I anniversary a trip. However, Blue Mountain Lodge is definitely a trip I look forward to booking again in the near future.

If you are a person who loves a full day of fly fishing pristine water, Blue Mountain Lodge offers the perfect blend of experienced guides, comfortable accommodations, and hearty home cooked food. True to their promise, the fishing was highly productive and often on water with no one else present. Without hesitation I would recommend Blue Mountain Lodge and their friendly staff to anyone.
It's all about serious fishing -- in total privacy -
By: RCFSRD from Meriden, NH
I just returned from a fishing adventure at Tracy Vrem’s Blue Mountain Lodge and cannot say enough good things about it. Tracy Vrem runs a truly professional but low-key, friendly operation and has for over 25 years. Blue Mountain is all about serious fishing -- for salmon of all types, dollies, grayling and rainbows. The best part was having the water to ourselves most days, so we caught lots of fish and saw lots of wildlife (especially bears) and felt we had Alaska to ourselves. Blue Mountain accepts only 6 guests at a time, and we fished in groups of just 3 guests each day. Very experienced pilot-guides flew us into 1 or 2 hidden away places each day in small aircraft (wheeled and float) that get in where bigger aircraft cannot go. Every day was a new adventure to a new location or two. Several days we caught so many fish we simply stopped counting. The pilot-guides were ready with advice and help if asked, but also happy to let us fish our brains out. The new lodge and cabins (about 4 years old) are very spacious, comfortable and inviting. The lodge has a gathering room with comfortable chairs and sofas, a dining area, and the modern kitchen. The duplex cabin right next door has 2 “suites”, each with a private bedroom with a queen, and then 2 singles in an outer room, all sharing a single bathroom. The suites were really well thought out, with everything we needed and nothing we didn’t need. The lodge staff kept things clean and tidy and prepared wonderful meals with ample portions for hungry fishermen, served family-style at one long friendly table. This is not a white-tablecloth-and-fine-wine kind of place, but rather a low-key-friendly kind of place, which I much prefer. I am already saving my money for a return trip. And, with their very reasonable prices, I will get to go sooner!
