Our guests rooms are appointed with two beds, a full private bath, and is decorated with an artistic touch of the Montana outdoors. The large screened porch, complete with log furniture and an old-time swing, provides a quiet evening retreat where guests can unwind from the aggravations of the "real world." Eagle Nest has always presented an atmosphere that encourages relaxation and camaraderie.
Dining at Eagle Nest has always been a prominent element of every guest's stay. Our dining room is a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere that fosters an air of fellowship among people who share common interests. Our most commonly asked question from returning guests is: "Is your Chef still there?" “Yes, Sherri our Chef has been with us since June of 2002. Need we say more! The food is incredible!”
The Bighorn River is teaming with rainbow and brown trout. The Bighorn River provides excellent fishing from April through November. As a tailwater fishery heavy run-off is never a problem, making it one of the few fisheries where fishing is as good in April and May as it is during summer and fall. The Bighorn averages between 4,000 - 6,000 trout per mile.
A general description on hatches: Of course, never guaranteed!
April: Baetis starting. Usually great dry fly fishing.
May: Beaetis is in full swing, possibly some midges around. This typically is the best all around month for dry flies and nymphing.

July: PMD's and yellow Sallies. Hoppers at the end of the month. Sally's can be great this time of year. Good month for novice and advanced anglers.

Q. What airport do we fly into?
A. Billings, MT. We are a 45 minute drive from the airport
Q. Do you provide equipment?
A. Yes, at no extra cost. We provide all rods, reels, waders, boots, flies, and tackle.
Q. Do you provide alcohol?
A. No, we are located the Crow Reservation. The reservation is a dry reservation, therefore it is illegal for us to provide. However, you are more than welcome to bring your own.
Q. How are you with beginner fisherman?
A. We have lots of beginner fisherman and our guides are fantastic. The majority of our guides and staff have been with us for over 14 years. They are great with beginners and advanced fisherman alike.
Q. What sections of the river do you float?
A. That would depend on the condition of the water and hatches. Our typical float is anywhere from 10 - 13 miles per day. During summer and fall months we fish the lower Bighorn River which is virtually deserted and provides some of the best hopper and streamer fishing on the Bighorn. And almost always the biggest fish!
Q. Do you have cell service and Wifi?
A. YES. We have great cell coverage and Wifi (Sorry, no cell coverage on the river though).
Q. How are the mosquitoes in the summer?
A. We spray for mosquitoes so usually not an issue here at the lodge. Typically they won't bother you on the water.
Q. Why should I book at Eagle Nest Lodge?
A. There are great choices along the Bighorn River. However, we believe we offer a unique experience which is why we have been so successful with our repeat guests. The majority of our staff and guides have been with us for over 10 years. We encourage our guides and staff to get to know our guests. You're more than welcome to come into the kitchen to talk to Sherri, our chef and check out what's for dinner. Our guides enjoy coming back to the lodge after a day of fishing and spending time with guests on the back patio. John and Rebecca enjoy appetizers and dinner with you in the evening. We strive for great service and hospitality. Sure there is great fishing on the Bighorn, but it's the whole package that brings you back. We hope to see you here on the Horn!

Eagle Nest Lodge is a great place and John and Rebecca are fantastic hosts that really are focused on the guest experience. My dad and I (and pals)have been going nearly every year over the last 10 and it's a great time every time, even when the weather doesn't fully cooperate.

We just spent three days at Eagle Nest Lodge and would grade our experience as follows: food A+, fishing A+, accommodations A+, guides A+, management A++, and overall Lodge experience A++. If you get the chance to visit Montana, please do yourself a big favor and stay with Becca and John at Eagle Nest Lodge. The Shirleys are great folks and the Big Horn River is without a doubt one of our country's greatest fisheries. Jan and Brad

"This past September I was fortunate enough to visit Eagle Nest Lodge for the second time to celebrate my retirement with some of my best friends. The experience was once again nothing short of Outstanding. John and Rebecca are special, you couldn't ask for more gracious hosts anywhere. Cheryl, the Chef, is a rock star. The food was absolutely amazing. Oh, by the way, fishing on the Big Horn with their guides is truly a memorable experience! This lodge deserves to be an Orvis Lodge of the Year, every year!!

The Eagle Nest Lodge is one of those few places you visit in your life where you instantly realize it is going to be a first-class experience - like walking into a Four Seasons hotel. From the moment we arrived to the day we left everything was spot-on. From John & Rebecca (Mgr.'s) meeting us on arrival, to the cook, guides, rooms, gear, store, etc. If you want a world class fly fishing experience this is it. Many thanks! Greg
