Nemacolin offers multiple fly-fishing opportunities. We are one of 15 locations for the 2-Day Orvis Fly-Fishing School. We offer half- and full-day guided fishing trips by reservation on a daily basis, both floating and walk/wade. Also casting and fly-tying lessons are available by reservation daily. During the year there are different cast and blast programs available by reservation. Our elevation ranges from 1700-2300 feet. We fish multiple size waters from small brook trout streams to large tailwater rivers. We provide transportation to and from the rivers/streams.
Spring: High 40's in the morning to high 60's in the afternoon. About 10-12 hours of good fishing light. Average chance of precipitation, water temps in the mid 40's up to mid 50's.
Summer: High 50's in the morning to mid/high 80's in the afternoon. Close to 15 good hours of fishing light in the summer. Below average rainfall with water temps ranging from the mid 50's to upper 60's/low 70's.
Fall: Low to mid 40's in the morning to high 60's in the afternoon. 10 good hours of fishing light. Average amount of precipitation, water temps low 40's to high 60's.
Winter: Low's single digits, high's low 40's. 10 good hours of fishing light, average amount of precipitation/snow.
Meet at Field Club prior to trip, depart from field club location. The client will have been contacted by his/her guide prior to trip. This is when details will be finalized. If streams become unfishable prior to trip we will try to inform the client ASAP.

The Nemacolin Field Club is an outdoor enthusiasts dream featuring The Shooting Academy, a 140-acre complex of woodlands, offering 35 Sporting Clay Stations. A spacious Field Club Lodge serves as the headquarters for Upland Bird Hunts and Orvis-Endorsed Fly Fishing programs. If you seek a little adventure in your stay, then look no further than the Sundial Lodge, a four-season facility that is the central location for the Resort’s Adventure Center activities which include: the Off-Road Driving Academy featuring Jeep® Rubicons, Paintball, Ropes Courses, Climbing Wall and one of the state’s longest Zip Line, the Fatbird Flyer. During the winter months, Mystic Mountain offers downhill and cross-country skiing and snow tubing. For a more unexpected winter experience guests can try snowshoeing or dog sledding on the property’s winter trails. Trout year round - This is true match the hatch fishing. We see multiple species/hatches of mayflies, caddisflies, stoneflies, and midges. We will target fish using multiple techniques.
Mid/Late Summer we also will target smallmouth bass. This is done with streamers or popping bugs.
Late Spring/summer - We will target carp if the client is interested, this is done by sight casting to mudding/feeding fish with various carp patterns (stillwater).
Summer - Pond fishing for bass and pan-fish (usually reserved for our younger fishing guests).
Sunscreen, camera, weather appropriate clothing, rain gear, Valid Pennsylvania or Maryland fishing license, polarized sunglasses, medication if needed, and own fishing equipment if desired.
Q. Is gratuity included?
A. Gratuity is not included and is at the client’s discretion. (It is appreciated).
Q. How many fish will we catch?
A. We will do our best to give you as much opportunity as we can (we want you to catch fish more than you do.)
Q. Can we keep fish?
A. No, we practice catch and release only.
Q. Do I need a fishing license with a trout stamp?
A. Yes, you need a valid license and trout stamp for the state you will be fishing in (Pennsylvania or Maryland). Single day/three day licenses are available for purchase in both states as well.
