Mike Heck's Trout Guides is open year-round.
I can provide all rod outfit and flies. The angler only needs waders and a Pennsylvania fishing license.
All my trips are wade only. The streams are easy streams to wade. I guide on Falling Springs, LeTort, Yellow Breeches, and other lesser-known streams. If new to fly fishing, I offer beginner classes with equipment provided by Orvis that will put you on the right track, or maybe you need to learn where to find the wary trout that are found in our spring creeks. For this, I offer year-round guiding on the Falling Springs, LeTort, and Yellow Breeches, as well as some other excellent south-central Pennsylvania streams and will show you how and where to find these trout, and instruct you on the techniques and flies used to catch these wild trout. Come late spring, you can join me and fly fish many other area streams that offer the best native brook and wild brown trout fishing there is to offer. Many of these streams are hidden in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains, so don't forget the camera!
Weather depends on the season. Days can range from 30s into the 90s depending on the time of the year. Some streams are affected by flooding while our small spring creeks remain fishable under heavy rain.
Trips are 8 hours long. I provide meals. All the angler needs is a pair of waders and a Pennsylvania fishing license. I can pick the angler up at the hotel or meeting spot around Chambersburg.
The angler can expect to catch rainbow, brown, and native brook trout depending on the stream to be fished.
I'll explain what should be packed since conditions can change due to the broad season.
