We guide all year long!
Equipment is provided (flies not included).
We float fish several different rivers and lakes, including the San Juan and Animas Rivers. We also offer wade trips on all the major fisheries in the area, which can range from easy access (just a few feet from the vehicle) or several miles into the backcountry.
Southwest Colorado weather is beautiful, with over 300 days of sunshine annually.
Typical time on the water is 4 hours for a half day and 8 hours for full-day guide trips. We can accommodate both large and small groups.
Southwest Colorado gives anglers the opportunity to catch the "grand slam" of trout fishing, catching all species in one day. The area has great hatches of insect all year long.
You should bring a hat, sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, and a wet-weather rain jacket if there is a risk of thunderstorms or rain.
In our retail store we carry a full range of fly-fishing equipment and fly-fishing supplies ideal for your San Juan River fly-fishing experience.
Q. What do I get on a half-day trip?
A. We supply all equipment, including rods, reels, waders, and boots. All you pay for extra are your flies used by the guide and your license for the day.
Obviously if you have a current Colorado license you are good to go. You may also use your own flies as well if you want to. In addition, if you have your own equipment you may use that as well.
Q. What do I get on a full-day trip?
A. In addition to all equipment provided on the half-day wade, on a full-day trip we also supply a lunch.
Q. What do I need to bring on my trip?
A. You should also bring a hat, sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, and a wet-weather rain jacket if there is a risk of thunderstorms or rain.
Q. On a float trip can I take along a spinning rod?
A. Yes. Sometimes an angler might not have the facility to cast a fly rod all day so there is no problem taking along a spinning rod. Younger people and children who are not strong fly fishers may also enjoy a trip more if they can cast a lure or a streamer on a spinning rod.
Q. How far is the San Juan float from the Texas Hole put-in?
A. We float for 5 miles. All other floats by competitors are 4 miles. We get the extra mile because we have our own private takeout. This means we cover water in the last mile which few, if any, other boats have covered.
Q. How do I book a trip?
A. A credit card is required to make your reservation for a San Juan or Colorado guided fly-fishing trip or your Colorado or San Juan float trip. You may phone us to book or use the trip order form.
