We are lucky enough to be in close proximity to a lot of good freestone and tailwater fishing, which means we are doing guide trips to world-class water every day of the year!
All of our guided trips include all necessary Orvis equipment, waders/boots/rods/reels, terminal tackle, transportation to and from the river, education and instruction from your Orvis-Endorsed Guide, beverages, and lunches on full-day trips.
We are located in the heart of Breckenridge in Summit County, Colorado. There are six gold medal rivers with in an hour of Breckenridge, including the Arkansas, Blue, Colorado, Eagle, and South Platte Rivers. We also fish many stillwater lakes, reservoirs, and private ranches. These waters offer diverse fishing environments ranging from small streams in high mountain plains to fishing big rivers surrounded by canyon walls and even fishing pristine high alpine reservoirs filled with trophy fish. Our county also offers a variety of different activities for the family as well as restaurants and bars for after-fishing activities.
Though our summer and fall fishing seasons tend to be the most popular, our winters are not to be missed. Because our season is all-year long, there is a very diverse range of fishing opportunities, from casting large dry flies to technical nymph fishing in the winter season. Some highlights of our season include the rainbow and cutthroat spawn in the spring and the brown and brook spawn in the fall. In each of these shoulder seasons you can experience great streamer fishing and catch large fish that do not usually expose themselves in the summer.
Our typical trip will meet at our shop in the morning between 7-8am. After being transported to the river, our guides provide the option of a casting and fish-fighting clinic where the guide familiarizes guests with equipment, flies, and different water-reading techniques for beginners. Throughout the course of the day, the guides instruct guests so that each skill builds upon the previous skill and by the end of the day most of our anglers have a good understanding of how to fish and a solid grasp on fly-fishing techniques. All of our trips are educational, fun, and fishy!
Every season of the year we are fishing for browns, rainbows, brooks, and cutthroats. In the spring, cutthroat and rainbows are more prevalent; in the fall, browns or brooks are the predominant trout. Also, in the late fall and early winter, kokanee salmon run up from Dillon, Green Mountain, and Elevenmile Resevoirs.
Customers should bring on their trip their hats, sunglasses, and licenses. Each adult over 16 will need a valid driver’s license in order for us to issue a fishing license and also to validate the fishing license with the state. Also, excitement and good attitudes are always appreciated and will be acquired almost immediately upon arrival.
We are proud to offer the best service in our shop and also equip you with the best guides on our local waters. We pride ourselves in being an honest small business that takes care of our customers no matter what. We enjoy educating everyone who walks in the door about any question that has to do with fly fishing. We have had many people say that they learned how to fly fish through our shop by stopping in over and over again to learn how to tie knots, get a good drift, and identify the hatches. We look forward to continuing these relationships for years to come. Tight lines!

Fantastic Lake Fishing with JP -
By: hojodo from Cincinnati, OH
I am relatively new to fly fishing and have never used a guide or fished for trout in a lake. As the rivers were blown out in May, the lake was the best option for catching fish. I still have reoccurring memories of catching ~ 25 large lake trout with JP. I used my Orvis Clearwater 6 wt and had a blast. The things that I learned are slowly sinking such as casting with line in the water, the take, the fight, but I still haven't figured out how to hold such a large fish :) JP was a great guide, great person, and he made it a great day. His knowledge and skill made it happen. I've since bought a used inflatable pontoon boat to try and replicate the experience at home. I would highly recommend this Orvis store as everyone there was great for my visits and questions. Hugh
GREAT TIME -

Went on a trip with a guide for the first time about a month ago. It was unbelievable. I got introduced to a new sport and got to hang out an enjoy the gorgeous rising mountains of the South Park Valley. Made for my perfect day. Since I was new the guide, Boston George, was immensely helpful and even got me to snag a couple, even though the pictures just show me empty handed cause those things are slippery! Just an unbelievable day though. Couldn't have asked for a more fun way to spend time in the mountains without snow.

Fred took me and my new son in law on a day float trip on the Colorado River. I caught 6 and my son in law caught 16 browns. Watched a bald eagle catch a brown for his lunch. Wonderful experience.
Great Day on the South Fork -
By: readyrev from Central Texas
My son and I had a wonderful day fishing with Breckenridge Outfitters guide, Pat Rudolph. Pat took about 20 minutes before we hit the water to help us with technical aspects of fly fishing. He then put us on fish and walked us through everything from proper presentation to landing and releasing the fish. I would highly recommend taking the time to learn from Breckenridge outfitters and enjoy a great day on the water with their courteous, professional guides.
I will go with Breckenridge Outfitters again -
By: Go2Colorado from Illinois, USA
We travel to the Breckenridge area about every year and this last year my wife gave me a gift certificate for a half day fly fishing trip. This was the first time going, but I am sure it will not be the last. Dennis was our guide and he was terrific. He made it easy to learn and shared is vast knowledge of the sport with us. Not only will I use Breckenridge Outfitters again, I will request Dennis as my guide.

Brown Beauty -
Great time. Guide Mike worked hard and we spotted and landed a nice brown on a dry fly.
Great Family Experience -
By: WallyT from Breckenridge, CO 80424, USA
Family of 6 who had never fly fished before, including 7 year old Sadie Belle had a terrific 2 hour on river trip. Shane and Oz were our guides as we split into 2 X 3 person. Shane was REALLY TERRIFIC. Instructional, shared in our excitement of catching 4 rainbow, one of which he estimated to be 20-21 inches. Our family is from Texas and this experience will insure we come back to Breckenridge and Breck Outfitters!
Another Great Day on the Water -
By: Blackgold from Edmond, Oklahoma
I have been fly fishing for twenty-five years. The majority of those years I have spent with Breckenridge Outfitters. My friends and I have fished public and private waters and have never had a day when we were disappointed with our guides. These guys read the water and match the hatch and offer us the advice needed to bring in the fish. Four of us are regulars and have always come home, at he end of fishing trip, ready to call these guys and schedule a time to get back out on the water. If you are a beginner or a old timer, this is the place to come. Don't miss it, you'll never regret it. Phil Wallace
