Southwind's gates are always open. Whether it be for magnificent quail hunting or hosting a corporate retreat, Southwind has you covered year-round.
SouthWind Plantation is South Georgia hunting at its best. Envision 3,000 picturesque acres of extensively- managed wildlife habitat home to thriving populations of deer, dove, duck, quail and turkey. Our varied and pristine terrain features classic South Georgia rolling wire grass, long-leaf pines, water oak creek bottoms and cultivated farm land. There's simply no better atmosphere to test your skills.
When cold weather returns to the South, ducks migrate down from their northern grounds. You will relish the chance to get on a fast and furious wood duck hole or go on the big lake hunt for ring necks and canvas backs. The first frost turns the woods to that accustomed golden brown. Cold clear crisp mornings in the field reminds one of the finer things in life. As the sun rises over a cold frost covered morning, you feel a renewed flow of energy as you hone in on that single quail on the rise or as you are watching that trophy buck in all his glory. As spring rolls around, we are graced with the pageantry of turkey season. The woods are awoken each morning by the thunderous gobbles of our boss toms, assembling their harems and getting ready to put on the show of the spring as they strut to display their magnificence.
Southwind offers a variety of activities guests can choose from if they aren’t already spending the day in the piney forest of south Georgia. From fishing for a trophy bass to honing ones shooting skills at the lighted clay range, guests will always have something to do at Southwind. Don’t forget Southwind has a wide variety of hunting.
After an exhausting day of awe-inspiring hunting or edge-of-your-seat fishing, you’ll retire to some of the most perfectly-appointed lodging options you’ll find anywhere. In fact, our indoors is almost as rejuvenating as our outdoors. Southwind has four different luxurious lodges available and can have the capacity for up to 35 guests.

Southwind's hospitality and welcoming nature is hands down the best I've experienced. The Smith's and their team of people really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at home. Accommodations, meals and of course the hunt can't be beat. Guides are matched perfectly to each client and the dogs are surpurbly well trained. We had such a grand time that we booked a second trip before we left.

The staff at Southwind are the most accommodating folks! We never heard the word "no" to any reasonable request. Shooting was very sporting, guides, dogs and equipment all excellent. You can do no better that Southwind for charm and an exceptional experience!

Southwind Is Truly Exceptional -

I have now visited Southwind for two hunts carrying corporate associates. One was a late season hunt and one an early season hunt. Each time I had 10 hunters of varying experience levels. Both of our visits were superb experiences. The plantation has excellent guides who work well with all levels of hunters. The bird dogs are top notch. The birds fly better than any other plantation I have visited (which includes about a dozen different top operations throughout the Southeastern U.s. I can say that Southwind outdoes every place I have been in every category - including exceptional lodging and hospitality, fantastic chef prepared meals, top shelf liquors, beautiful grounds, and of course excellent hunting - transportation, logistics, guides, dogs, and birds. I recommend Southwind without reservation and have already booked another hunt for next year. I plan to keep Southwind as a staple in my annual rotation of great places to hunt. Oh, and I forgot to mention, the owners of the plantation are there with you for meals and the entire staff will go out of their way for any request. We also enjoyed some great other recreation during the afternoons - including catching trophy size bass in the lakes and enjoying skeet shooting. You will not regret visiting this fine establishment.

Southwind is by far the best quail plantation. The accommodations are that of a fine resort. The staff is there to see to every need. The meals are fantastic... And, oh yeah, the quail hunting is superb. The hunting fields are some of the best we've hunted. The guides are very professional and the dogs are great.
First Class Quail Hunting -
First and foremost the meals provided at Southwind plantation are phenomenal. This plantation has well trained dogs, great guides, and plenty of birds. They even put out a few pheasant for us, which was quite the treat.
Well done -

I just hosted a group of 20 folks at the Plantation. This was a very successful outing. The hunting, hospitality and accommodations were all excellent. The main attraction to this trip was the hunting and the guides were experienced and worked well with the wide range of hunters that we had with us.
best hunt ever -
