Harpole's Heartland Lodge

Nestled between the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers. Wild quail hunting and the legacy of quality upland game bird dogs are a tradition at Harpole's. Enjoy hunting native bobwhite quail, along with pheasant, on an upland game hunt. Hunt behind some of the best German shorthair pointers and English pointers in the country! An abundance of CRP fields mixed with fields of milo is ideal for upland birds. Five-star accommodations await your return from the field. Indulge with a luxury suite completely furnished with a ultra comfy triple sheeted, king sized canopy bed, fireplace, jaccuzzi (great after a long day in the field), comfy furniture, day bed, mini refrigerator for all your favorite beverages, gun racks and more. Our lodges are an attraction in itself. Warm up next to a large fireplace in the great room or relax with a game of pool or cards. You are in true luxury, staying in the beautiful decorated rooms with private baths. The meals are generous and scrumptious. Open September - March.

What is Provided to Customer

We provide guides, dogs, transportation to the fields, lodging, and meals. We do have guns for rent and ammo for sale.

Region/Terrain Where You Hunt

The terrain is very conducive to upland game hunting. Gently rolling hills along with flat fields make it scenic yet easy to walk.

Typical Weather by Season

We are in the perfect climate! Not to warm in the early season, and not to cold during the winter. October-March are the recommended months to hunt with us.

Sample of Typical Itinerary

Most of our trips are 3 nights and 2 days or 4 nights and 3 days. You arrive the night before, meet our upland manager and have an orientation meeting. Then you will spend the next couple days hunting and enjoying the lodge. You will stay after your last night and depart after breakfast the next day. We can also work with you on a custom itinerary.

On-site Activities

Sporting Clays, Deer Hunting, Waterfowl Hunting, Quail and Pheasant Hunting. During certain times of the year: Horseback Riding, Fishing, Hiking, Biking, Massage, ATV Riding, Bonfires, and more.

Off-site Activities

There is a lot to do in our surrounding areas. Hannibal MO, home of Mark Twain, Springfield IL, home of Abe Lincoln, and St Louis are an easy drive from the lodge. There are also a lot of antique shopping, craft stores and other sites local to see.

Lodging, Meals, and Accommodations

Our accommodations are first class, you hunt includes a regular room with two twin beds. Upgrades are available. Our luxury suites are the nicest rooms you will find. All meals are also included.
