Great travel rod -
By: BobF from Hill Country, Texas
I recently (June, 2015) purchased this rod for travel to Colorado to fish Goose Creek an excellent tailwater which empties into the Upper Rio Grande, south of Creede, at the 4UR Ranch. One of my favorite 5-weight rods, a 3-piece, would not fit in my bag to travel. I reluctantly purchased this rod thinking it would solve my packing problem, but was wary of a 7-piece rod being able to have a smooth but powerful action as "travel rods" have a reputation of being rather stiff and unresponsive. Wow! Was I surprised! This puppy casts as well or better than many of my rods which cost much more. It is a dream to use! I used it for two weeks straight only interrupted by my Orvis 4-weight Clearwater which is another great rod for the money. I hauled in everything from little brookies and cutthroats to 19-20 inch browns and rainbows which fought like whales. I highly recommend this rod not just as a "travel compromise," but as a standard daily use rod for every occasion. It has very smooth and versatile action. I am considering the 9 foot 5-weight and the 6-weight to round out my "travel package." They should be able to take you fly fishing, just about anywhere in the world for fish under 25 inches. Highly recommend. And it is a darned good-looking rod too!
Very pleased! -

I have a 30 year old lamiglass fly rod that I love. I bought this to pack in my suitcase. I am very pleased with it. It is much lighter than I expected and I can't tell any difference between thie action of this 7 piece rod versus my 2 piece rod. It will fit in any suitcase that I will use and I won't need to use it as a "carry on". Can't wait to be on the water with it.
Very good rod! -

Used it for my first trout fishing trip in Scotland in September. It worked brilliantly taming some handsome size trout. Had on a Clearwater #5 reel too. Both worked like a charm. Very pleased with the results.

I have already recommended this rod to 4 friends, who have bought it. It casts beautifully, is unbelievably convenient (it fits in my motorcycle side case), and is a screaming bargain. It's now my go-to trout rod.
Almost ideal -

As a pack rod, this rod travels well aboard aircraft etc., but for small mountain trout streams a 7 foot rod option would be ideal ! Quality product from a trusted name !
Perfect fit -
I was looking for a fly rod to complement another passion - motorcycle touring, and this 7-piece rod is a perfect fit in a saddlebag. The rod has a nice finish, if that matters to you, but more important is enough finesse for small mountain streams with backbone for a windy Wyoming day. Great value in a very small package.
