Strong, Sturdy, Stylish -

As resilient as it is smart, the Insulated Performance Blazer is an excellent over-garment when the weather is too hot for a coat but the breeze a little too brisk for a jacket alone. Perfect, therefore, for a Scottish spring, walking the beach or touring a Highland show. My only problems are not really to do with the make, material or pattern of the blazer: 1/. It was packed in such a way that the lapels were folded back and the crease nearly disappeared. They had to be steam ironed back into place. 2/. For some reason moths love this blazer. I have to keep it in a plastic sleeve with a camphor mothball.
The only time I've been disappointed by Orvis -

I'm loyal to Orvis, but this jacket just does not measure up. Got it just before leaving for a trip on the Danube. WX ranges 31 to 37. With a sweater it held my heat, but the jacket is lacking in coverage for the chest and neck area. I did the measurement chart and decided to go XL to allow for a light sweater...turned out to be a very tight fit. I think it is undersized to its label. After one week, the thread has started fraying. Concept seemed good, but the detail and execution are wanting.

The Orvis Insulated Performance Blazer is a great winter coat alternative! Has the look of a wool flannel blue blazer and the warmth of medium weight winter down jacket. Fit is somewhat slim but try to size, I take a 42 jacket and purchased the Large which fit well over a blazer/sweater or alone. Great value for the money!
The perfect Solution -
The perfect solution for winter warmth with the 'bulk' of other coats - easy when accessing the car and dressy enough for any occasion.

In the photo this insulated blazer seemed like a three-buttoned blazer. But it is a four button coat; the upper flaps sort of fall into lapels, thus, it has a blazer look. However, because it buttons at the top, that little detail increases its usfelness in terms of temperature. Though I didn't make the pruchase until July and have not worn it, except in front of the mirror, the fact that it can button all the way up means I can wear it in much colder temperatures than I orginally thought, perhaps into the 30s. As an aside, the detail -- seams, lining, needle work, etc.-- was very impressive it is really well made.

Excellent fit all the way around. I like the finished tailored look with the benefit of down. Layered with a sweater provides added comfort on cold days. Very classy look and nicely lined with roomy pockets.
Product t looked well made but the collar was so wrinkled I could not wear it so I returned it to the local Orvis store. Please credit me the $17 it cost to ship the jacket. Thank you
