My first Hunting experience was outstanding! - 12/9/2013
By: from Libby Camps, Ashland, ME 04732, USA

Libby Camps is renowned for providing wing-shooting experiences for the experienced hunter. When I contacted Matt Jr. to schedule a visit, my circumstances were much different. I had never hunted and did not own a gun. Although I had passed my Hunter Safety Course and had taken shooting lessons, I was an absolute rookie. On short notice, Matt Jr. scheduled a Guide, with Pointers, who would walk me through the steps and have fun at the same time. Our Guide even coaxed my wife to join us for one morning and she had a great time too. I had been to Libby Camps for fly fishing, so knew that the cabins, food, and friendliness would be outstanding...and it certainly was. The key point is how hard Matt & Jess, and my Guide, worked to make my "first ever hunt" a fantastic experience. A scenic flight over Mt. Katadin, with Matt Sr., put an exclamation point on the weekend. We're already planning for Fall 2014.

    All world - 12/1/2013

The Lodge and cabins were exactly what I had hoped for in a Maine camp. The food was so good and plentiful that even covering 6-8 miles a day over slash and thru woods i could not help but gain weight! The guides, camp staff and Libby family were attentive, gracious hosts and the Grouse hunting was phenomenal as was the land we hunted- did not see nor hear others over my 3 day stay. These place is a gem and I they should be listed as an All World Camp.

    No place better - 12/1/2013
By: from New York, NY, USA

I make three or four hunting trips a year all to nice places but Libby Camps is the best. It is a combination of the people, the cabins, the hunting, the dogs and the overall good feeling that brings me back year after year. I am coming up on my tenth year and as one of my hunting partners says: "don't change a thing".

Libby Camps is a beautiful and fantastic destination. The service is excellent, the guides knowledgeable and friendly, and the dogs are great companions in the field; a truly unbeatable combination. This was my second trip this year, and I have reservations for two more trips next year. A truly exellent experience.

This was my second trip with Libby Camp's. This is the best place to hunt grouse in the USA. The traditional north Maine cabins combined with great service and exceptional food makes this my favorite place. If you like to hunt grouse this should be a "must do" on your list - you won't be disappointed.

Only one thing is needed to enjoy this vacation, a love a nature. Bring that with you and no review will be able to say enough to describe the happiness you will leave with. So I will say this, COME! Bring everyone with you! My husband, myself, our two young daughters and our two Brittany's came and stayed at the camps and we all left VERY happy. Great hunting....warm cabins, hot showers, beautiful scenery, every meal delicious and served with a smile. Finally, peacefulness- there's nothing more to want.

    Perfect - 11/6/2013
    By: from Boston, MA, USA

Libby's is the only Hunting and Fishing Lodge I've ever described as perfect. Everything was taken care of from the moment you arrive to our departure. We were fortunate enough to experience a fly out with Matt Jr and saw some amazing country -definitely worth it. As always, Jess did an amazing job with our meals, guides were extremely knowledgeable in finding birds, working their dogs, and taking us to various covers: it really was unbeatable. What a top notch facility – I’m glad we were able to go. We already booked next year and I would happily be a reference for anyone interested in visiting – my favorite hunting trip of the year!

Once again a needed and enjoyable stay. Leaving the work world and encompassing the natural surroundings and getting back to the woods, the birds, the comradery, the warmth of the cabins, the knowledge of the guides and the abundance and quality of the food. This is IT!
