    Nice sweater - 3/20/2014

This is a great light sweater. Nice weight and texture. It may be too heavy for southern summer, but I'll save it for fall.

    Excellent purchase!! - 3/17/2014

This is my favorite piece of aparrel to wear. It is like a comfortable T Shirt only dressier and has some warmth to it. Perfect for a Spring or fall day and for breezy days. it is cuddly and comfortable. I love it!

disappointed with the short length - 3/13/2014
    By: from swansea, MA

I ordered the misty green color. The color is fabulous and the quality of the fabric is excellent. However, at 23 inches in length, this top appears to be about 3 inches shorter than a "modern" top. Bear in mind, I'm only 5'5". I wouldn't recommend this top for anyone taller unless you're looking for almost a cropped look. I'm not sure if I'll keep it. Why so short Orvis?!

Love this sweater. I bought it in 2 colors and love it! Very soft and a great weight. Many sweaters are too heavy. This is just right! Thank you, Orvis!

Just ordered my 6th color of this cashmere cotton creation. Even with multiple washings get compliments on color and appearance. I wash these in separate cycle from other wash.

    Very Versatile - 3/6/2014
    By: from South Florida

This is a perfect light-weight choice for Florida. I love the sea mist green color. I wish the neck opening were smaller so that it fit higher on the neck, but I will order this in another color.

    Good fit - 3/4/2014

What makes this sweater desirable is that it comes in petite sizes. When I tried it on it did not disappoint. The long sleeves stop at the wrist, not at the fingertips as all regular sized long-sleeved sweaters do. Thank you for carrying a sweater in proportioned sizes that work for shorter figures.

    A little disappointed - 3/2/2014

Not as soft or as pink as I had hoped for...more coral than I had hoped but it still is a nice sweater...just not what I expected for the price.

    Classic Crewneck - 3/1/2014
    By: from Berkeley, CA

This sweater is flattering and of a classic style. I generally wear a small or medium petite and this sweater fits perfectly in a small petite. I took off one star because I wish it were a bit thicker.

Cashmere: the fabric of kings

The ancient fabric of choice for a royal family

Countryside Cashmere Sweather for women from OrvisOnce again, we have Asia to thank for a prized textile. Cashmere is named for the Kashmir goats that inhabit the Himalayas and the mountainous regions of Central Asia that surround the Gobi desert. The harsh, extreme climate of the high desert plateaus are just right for producing the downy undercoat needed to make cashmere yarn. Cashmere was known to the Western world in ancient Roman times and it was the fabric of choice for Tibet’s royal family for centuries. Today, about 60% of the world’s cashmere, or approximately 3,000 tons, comes from Tibet and China.

A Gift from the Gobi

The coat of a Kashmir goat consists of a coarse outer coat, sometimes referred to as guard hair, and the fine downy undercoat, which is used to make cashmere yarn. The goats grow this ultra-soft, insulating inner layer for protection from the wild drops in temperature at night in the mountains and plateaus. This superior fiber is collected annually, during the spring molting season, when the animals naturally shed their winter wool. It is traditionally removed with a comb and separated by hand. Each goat produces a mere four to six ounces of downy fiber a year.

The Timeless Appear of Cashmere

As a knit, cashmere is lightweight and exceptionally warm. The yarn has a soft, silky finish and can be easily dyed. Like silk, cashmere’s exotic origins and sublime softness are timelessly appealing. Orvis is proud to bring you these handsome women’s cashmere sweaters. They are a great value, combining the ultimate in luxury with winter warmth and practicality – a wonderful gift for your friends, family, or yourself.
