Warm and sturdy - 12/29/2015
By: LLD1We bought this sweater for the elbow pads because my 96 year old father-in-law leans on his elbow in bed a lot of the day. We had gotten a beautiful sweater from another company, but the elbow blew out after a few months. They replaced the sweater free of charge, but it happened again. Clearly we needed something different. So far, Orvis' sweater is holding up and he loves it. It's also quite warm which all old Mainers need when they reach 96!

Gift Success! - 12/26/2015

This looked good, but I was nervous until the gift was on the person and discovered that the fit was great, the weave was tight and cozy, and the sweater itself was soft and warm. This is the perfect extra bit of attire for our cabin in the northwest woods.

Runs large across the upper chest area - 12/24/2015
By: lsmith from Albuquerque, NMI ordered this sweater in large for my husband. He generally wears large sweaters and a 40 jacket. It ran very wide across the upper chest area however. Overly generous. The shoulder seams folded in when worn. I ordered the medium which arrived today. It fits much better. Still slightly wider than I expected in the shoulder area. But overall it fits great. Husband is happy.

Husband loves this sweater - 12/22/2015

We went to the store to see it in person and could immediately tell it was a good, quality, warm cardigan. The oatmeal color is really a lovely blend and goes with everything. It seems to run slightly big, so we got him a large instead of extra large and fits his perfectly. He loves it so much, I secretly bought him a second one that he can put away for later. The elbow patches are a nice touch and the sweater is not itchy or rough feeling at all. The buttons are sturdy and feel strong. He has worn this sweater several times and has received some nice compliments. Perfect for fall and winter!

We field-test all of them on associates, and we take into consideration how the clothing will be worn. For example, when we fit men's outerwear, we always size it with the appropriate layers beneath. That means you do not need to order a size up for a comfortable fit.

Classic Fit
- Field-tested and time-honored

Trim Fit
- 1 ½” narrower through the hips
- 1” narrower through the thighs and down the legs
- A ½” shorter back rise allows a closer fit to the body
In all instances, hold tape firm and level, but not tight.
a. Head: Using a flexible/soft tape measure, start 1" above the ear. Follow around head staying 1" above the ear. This will give your most accurate reading. Then refer to the chart for size.
b. Neck Circumference: Wrap tape around to the base of your front neck and allow room for wearing comfort. OR measure the collar length of a favorite shirt.
c. Sleeve Length: From the center back of your neck with your arm slightly bent, follow the tape around to your wrist bone.
d. Chest: Wrap a tape measure evenly around the fullest part under your arms.
e. Waist: Wrap tape around your natural waistline, or where you actually wear your pants.
f. Seat/Hip: Standing with your feet together, measure around the fullest part of your hip (approx. 7-8" below the waist). Don’t forget to keep the tape level.
g. Inseam: Best taken from an existing pair of pants you like. Measure along the garment inseam from the crotch seam to the hem.
h. Glove Hand: Measure all the way around the flat part of your hand, excluding the thumb, and around the widest part at the knuckles. Use the chart above to convert this measurement in inches to your corresponding glove size.
