We chose French lambskin for our Bush Pilot Jacket. Rugged and durable, it resists abrasions and abuse, staves off wind and cold, and develops a fine patina throughout the years. This jacket style was worn by pilots who flew the 1929 Travelair 6000B, a wooden-framed, fabric-covered single-prop plane first used to fly supplies to homesteaders in Idaho's Selway-Bitterroot Mountains. The pilots chose the bush jacket to fend off the cold mountain air that seeped into the plane and to permit themselves a range of motion in the cockpit. As with the original, ours features a survival whistle and epaulets for parachute straps, more a function of authentic fashion than necessity these days. Also features snap-closure flap pockets with side-entry hand warmers. Acetate lined. Elastic waist and sleeve cuffs, and underarm grommets. In cognac. Professional leather clean. Imported. Sizes: S(34-36), M(38-40), L(42-44), XL(46-48), XXL(50-52).
