The Story

The essential benchside fly tying guide book has an easy-to-use split page, spiral bound design.

This guide book offers 3,000+ color photos and step-by-step instructions to give you the confidence to tie proven patterns easily.

From masters Ted Leeson and Jim Schollmeyer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The Fly Tying contents look good. The rounded book binding was split in half. The design does not let the pages lie flat. The way the pages bend looks like the book will not last very long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features. Easy to use. This book is very helpful. I love that the bottom section/pages can be flipped seperate to look up a technique without losing the page of the fly you are tying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect reference while your tying! There are lots of great fly tying books. What sets this on apart though is that it’s split into two parts. The top half is separate from the bottom as the pages are cut in half. The top half is the fly recipes & the bottom are the techniques. So each step of your fly shows you which bottom page to turn to for the technique. You can easily step through advanced flys while you’re tying. There is no other book like it on the market!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great book Learned a lot with this book. Lays nice and flat, pages are not too thick and strong. Used this for a few years and it has held up to my abuse and my children's (8 and 4yr old). If you need to help to learn to fly tying this is the book. Very happy with it and still my go to book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Complentary Booklet Pros: Book is cut into 2 halfs horizontally. Complements the Benchside Reference book nicely as generic patterns are described fully and their tying steps photographes in upper half. Lower half of the ring-bound book explains the methods in details. Cons: None, as always from these authors you get perfection.
