The lodge at Falcon's Ledge is a unique structure, handsomely set in a private 600-acre canyon, providing a bird's-eye view of the surrounding canyon, stillwaters and wildlife. The 15,000 square-foot lodge was designed specifically to provide the ultimate lodging experience for secluded fly-fishing and pheasant-hunting adventures. The eight private rooms with full bathrooms give you privacy and luxury.
From the moment you pass through the front gate, you will know you have come to someplace very special. The lodge at Falcon's Ledge provides elegant amenities and service while letting you relax as if you were in your own home. While you will be pampered by our staff, you still have the freedom of helping yourself to a soft drink or snack in the kitchen. We want you to relax and make yourself at home. With plenty of luxurious room to relax, you can read a book, play a game of chess, shoot pool in the game room, watch the deer, or soak in the hot tub.
At Falcon's Ledge Lodge, delicious, homemade meals are provided each day. We describe the dining at Falcon's Ledge as country gourmet.
Breakfasts are served each morning with a variety of fresh, delicious options including pancakes, french toast, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, omelets, bagels, toast, oatmeal, and ham steaks.
Lunches are served on the river and include homemade, fresh deli sandwiches, deli wraps, fresh salads, fresh fruit and vegetables, dessert, and drinks.
Dinners are delicious and typical dinners include ribeye steak, pork tenderloin, prime rib, fresh vegetables, fresh salads, and a homemade dessert.
We serve homemade jams, syrups, and honey butter with every meal from Utah berry farms. We provide juices, soda pop, tea, and coffee. If you have a favorite drink you would like while at the lodge please let us know and we will have it here when you arrive.
Due to state liquor license restrictions, we do not provide alcoholic beverages. You are welcome to bring your favorite beverage.
Where is the school locationed?
The Complete Family Fly-Fishing School is located in Altamont, Utah. It is 2.5 hours from Salt Lake City Airport (SLC). It is 2 hours from Provo, Utah, and 2.5 hours from Ogden, Utah. The most popular method of travel is to fly into Salt Lake City airport.
What is included in the price?
Included in the price is lodging, meals, instruction/guide service, fly fishing equipment. Not included is alcohol, fishing license, and transportation.
What skill levels does this school cater to?
All skills levels are welcome to attend the complete family fly fishing school. The school will be focused on teaching beginners to fly fish different freshwater, but intermediate and advanced fishermen are welcome to attend and would learn new techniques and have the opportunity to catch fish in lots of different waters.
How many students are in this school?
Each family will have their own personal fly fishing instructor.
Can children join this school?
Children are welcome at the complete family fly fishing school. We recommend that children be at least 8 years old to attend the school.
What should I bring?
Please bring polarized sunglasses, bug spray, a rain jacket, and a hat.
Are there specific gear recommendations?
We provide fly-fishing equipment for the school, but you are welcome to bring your own gear. 9 foot 5-wt. fly rods are the best fly rods to bring. If you have small children, we recommend bringing waders and boots for them as we may not have their size, but boots and waders are not a requirement.
Do I need to purchase a license?
Students will need a Utah state fishing license. We can help you purchase a license when you arrive at the lodge or you can purchase one online for the days you will be fishing at https://wildlifelicense.utah.gov/hflo/main/serv1/index.html?server=serv1.
What is the typical weather?
The weather at Falcon's Ledge Lodge in July is typically sunny with highs in the high 80s and lows at night in the 50s. There is a chance of afternoon thunderstorms so bring a rainjacket. The sun is bright in July so bring sunscreen and a hat.
What lodging is available or in the area?
During the school, students will stay at the beautiful, modern Falcon's Ledge Lodge. Families will have their own private bedroom and bathroom. We have different room setups to accommodate different family sizes.
What about meals and dining?
All meals are included in the price of the school.
Are there additional activities?
Falcon's Ledge Lodge is located just below the Ashley National Forest. Hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and canoeing are all options in the national forest. The Dinosaur National Monument is about an hour's drive from the lodge.
What happens when there is bad weather?
The school will not be cancelled due to weather unless it becomes unsafe to be outside.
We can accommodate students with limited mobility.

If you must cancel your trip, refund fees are based on the cancellation date, as follows:
- +90 days prior to trip - Full refund
- 60-90 days prior to trip - 50% of trip cost
- 59 days or less to trip - 100% of trip cost
