Madison River - Between Quake Lake and Ennis, Montana Fly Fishing Reports & Conditions
My tips of the week
With the cold snow and ice flow on the upper Madison now is not the time to be fishing. If you must go think about the Beartrap Canyon and above Lyons Bridge.

Madison River, Between Quake Lake and Ennis Description

The Upper Madison is know as the "Fifty Mile Rifle". It has some of the most classic trout water in the country and many anglers from all over the country have called it their favorite for years. With lots of Rainbow and Brown Trout and good fishing with nymphs, dries, and streamers, the Madison is a near perfect trout stream.

Techniques & Tips

If you must fish keep your bobbers handy. Nymph rigs low and slow are the best bet.

7-Day Forecast

Cold and winter are sticking with us. This is good as we need the snow for summer water. Keep doing the snow dance a little longer. Good weather and fishing are just around the corner lets get our summer water now. The river from 8 Mile to Ennis Lake has gourged and is unsafe to fish at this time.
