McCloud River - Northern California, California Fly Fishing Reports & Conditions
My tips of the week
Flows have been good on the McCloud and the water color is perfect. Fish are looking up in the evenings, so don't be afraid to throw on a #14-16 Parachute Adams or #14 PMD. Don't leave too early , the evenings have seen the best dry fly fishing. If you aren't seeing any top water action, don't be afraid to throw on a Sculpin pattern and fish the depths or go with the bobbercator and a Jimmy Leg with a LBS dropper.

McCloud River Description

Arguably one of the most beautiful tailwaters in the Golden State. Flowing out of the McCloud reservoir and flowing into Lake Shasta this fishery holds fantastic fishing for both browns and rainbows.

7-Day Forecast

It's the Dawg Days of summer and it's hot in the canyon so wet wading the McCloud is suggested otherwise this is always a top of the list river to fish and hopefully hook into one of the monster browns the river is famous for.
