Neversink River Description

This river is a legendary Catskill river that was divided in 1955 by the New York City when they constructed a water supply reservoir. This event created a downriver tail-water that extends for about six miles of still pools and slow riffles. Long leaders and delicate presentations are the rule on this stretch of river that is the home to both wild and domestic brown trout.

Techniques & Tips

Dry dropper rigs and nymphing.

7-Day Forecast

Hot weather and wadable water. The usual mid June heat wave coming in this week can quickly take water temps over the safe limit. Watch for a weekend cold front that will cool it down again. Heavy T-storms Wed PM and Thurs AM jumped levels up and were still rising as this is being typed. Staying up in the tailwater section could turn into the best play.
