Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Training Collar Ever! I have 3 big dogs and hike alot with them. Riley is a rescue who was very leash reactive and it made me fearful to hike with all 3 dogs. I tried positive reinforcement with a clicker and treats whenever we encountered other dogs. But he would often still growl and lunge on his leash. It was so stressful. With the Garmin collar, when we encounter another dog, I tell him "No bark" and if he starts to become reactive, I push the beep button, and if he continues to be reactive, I will give him a small shock. Usually (since he knows a shock will follow the warning beep) he calms down right away, and I will use the clicker and treat him. I do it this way so he doesn't start associating strange dogs with an unpleasant stimulus (the shock). For those who are worried that the shock will hurt their dogs, I do want to say that just a low intensity shock (I use a 3 or 4) is enough to get their attention. I also test this around my neck every time before I apply to my dogs (because I worry that they might malfunction). I don't find a 3 or 4 level shock to be painful, just alittle startling and uncomfortable. This collar has really made my life so much less stressful and allowed me to go hiking with my big pups by myself.
