We provide expert guidance for beginners to the very skilled. All meals, tents, life jackets, and dry bags are provided at no extra cost. We have rental gear available if needed (sleeping bags, pads, rod, reel, waders, boots).

Lodging, Meals, and Accommodations

The North Rim Fishing and Hunting Lodge in Hotchkiss, Colorado can fully accommodate your stay before, during, or after your Gunnison River fishing, hunting or rafting experience. The 3,000 sq ft. lodge offers six private bedrooms, four baths, a dining room and a living room. Fantastic views overlook the Smith Fork Canyon and the West Elk Mountains.

Q. What is required to book a trip?
A. Due to the nature and logistics of our trips, we require a 50% nonrefundable deposit at the time of booking to hold your date. If you cannot make your trip, we will gladly reschedule you to a later date.

Q. When is the salmon fly hatch?
A. The salmon fly hatch typically happens in late May through June. However, depending on river flows the hatch can be as late as early July. Please call us for inquiries about water flows.

Q. How does the equipment get into that canyon?
A. All of our equipment is horse packed into the canyon the day before your trip.

Q. How do we get back to our vehicles after the trip?
A. We take the rafts off the river at the Gunnison River Pleasure Park’s private boat ramp, this is the same place we meet you the morning of your trip so your vehicles will be there waiting for you.

Q. What is the hike into Chukar trail like?
A.The hike into Chukar trail is a 600-foot vertical drop, moderate, staircase hike. It is easy for our 70-80 year old clients that are in decent shape.
