The Story

When the water is cloudy and visibility limited, sometimes it take a little flash and sparkle to get even a Woolly Bugger noticed. This is the Vegas showgirl of the bugger fly family. A real go-to fly when the there's a bit of runoff in the river.

Sizes: 6, 8, 10, 12.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasant Surprise In my seven-year experience as a fly caster, I’ve gravitated more and more to the Woolly Bugger as my go-to bait and have fished several variations successfully. About a year ago, I purchased a couple of Krystal Buggers At a local Orvis shop and had good luck on stocker trout that season. In the months following, the little guys (#10) have helped me land more trout and bluegills, so I purchased six more in sizes 10 and 12. In the months ahead, I’m looking forward to more trips to fishing locations with your Buggers as my companions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Should be named bass bugger Buggers are always good for bass fishing, i have found stripping normal followed by a mixture of what i like to call "micro strips" tiny jerking stripping action with a rest in between to allow bugger to sink. Best procedure in still water right along the edge of thermocline depth during hot summer months. Find thermocline depth in a location with some cover, rocks, brush. Slays bass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Availability, in larger sizes for western USA. My brother, a westernerer, is always telling me, those tiny eastern flys you use, catch tiny eastern trout., out West, we use BIG flys to catch huge trout. I am so glad that I could select larger sized flys, to send him, for Christmas. If your catalog offered one as large as a penguin, I would have selected one for him.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My go-to summer/early fall pattern The olive Crystal Bugger is my most productive pattern for brown trout in the midsummer through early fall. My river has low water and the fly attracts strikes when dead drifted past logs and rocks, with occasional twitches.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for shallow largemouth These buggers without the bead head are great for shallow water or where there not much clear water above thick weeds. Hint: My son uses a slower retrieve than I do and he outfishes me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I was in a pool with some big browns that wouldn't touch anything. I tied on this Krystal flash wooly bugger and immediately started catching fish. The first two fish were in the 18" range and the 3rd fish was 16" long. The tail action of the maribou and the flash are a deadly combo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Olive Krystal Bugger Nice, fat and well tied. Fools the Florida largemouth bass every time.
