The Story

A big striper pattern with a spun deer hair head to move a lot of water and attract strikes. black/purple, chartreuse, red/white.

Size 6/0, length 6½"; 2, length 3".

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Montauk terestrial Pattern looked poorly executed for stripers of Montauk. Great for muskie or pike on the lake! I took eyes off, trimmed head a little, and reglued with UV epoxy. Big bulky pattern I plan to use for night striper fishing. Made in Kenya

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mouse like I found this fly useful for Bass in some local lakes and when brought out to the ocean its large so its very visible and rockfish like to strike this fly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bass or Rockfish This fly works in the local waters for rockfish and I haven't seen it fail to get the attention of Bass in some of the more inland lakes. The white/tan one perfectly mimics a medium sized baitfish and in the fresh water it can be seen as a fish or a mouse if it is used on the surface and not streamed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Golden Dorado Patterns I use Montauk Monster for striped bass at Montauk Point, NY, but the pattern also works for Golden Dorado at Tsimane in Bolivia. Very effective fly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Burly The 6/0 version of this fly is a beast. Great movement with a sink tip, especially in current. Easy to cast, fantastic hook (ultra sharp and super strong). And it attracts toothy predators. One note: the trimming of the head is not terribly consistent between flies. Other than that, it's very well made.
