Orvis Fly-Fishing Ambassador
David has spent the better part of his life navigating Florida’s coastline and waters. He began fishing during childhood and found his passion in fly fishing somewhere between the Florida Panhandle and the Louisiana Delta. His guiding career brings him out to the water almost every day.
David is always thinking about fish—the where, the when, and, most importantly, the why. His analytical process (despite it being, as he describes, “sometimes torturous”) drives his thirst for exploration. He thrives on the challenging days—when the conditions become adverse and he’s forced to engage his mind to the true craft of guiding.
“Anyone can be an incredible guide on the sunny calm days where the fish are everywhere, but that’s not where the truth lies. If you pay attention to the details and the ebb and flow of the world, you will become a part of it and you’ll know a wondrous place you’ll never tire of.”
When not poling his skiff, David is at home in Santa Rosa Beach, raising his family.

“As a guide, my favorite thing about fly fishing is overcoming adverse conditions. It’s the puzzle. No sun. Wind. High water. Dirty water. Rough water. Clouds. Rain. When conditions go to hell, I have to become analytical... this is the challenge that keeps my mind engaged with the craft of guiding.”
