The Story

Danner and Orvis have come together to develop a special Orvis version of the Danner Light II, one of Danner's most popular boots. The proven design has been updated with durable CORDURA® upper insets in traditional Orvis green. Premium, waterproof full-grain leather upper sports the Orvis and Danner logos on the tongue. The Vibram® Sierra outsole with MegaGrip is very tacky, providing unparalleled grip on slippery and wet surfaces. It's extremely durable for multiple types of terrain. Boots have a GORE-TEX® lining for 100% waterproof and breathable comfort. Danner's legendary stitchdown construction is crafted to provide a wider platform and increased stability. Can be sent to Danner for resoling, lining/hardware/heel counter replacements. In brown/green.

Leather/nylon/rubber. Made in USA.

Whole and half sizes 7-12,13. Run large, please order one half to one size smaller than your usual size. Height: 6". Weight per boot 1.75 lbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OUTSTANDING BOOT! I use the boot for hiking over rocky, often wet terrain and near daily walks on hilly, gravel roads. This Danner boot is unbelievably comfortable; easily broken in. The inclusion of the plastic heel insert is a nice touch and adds to the comfort. Boot is very stable on rough ground and grips well on slippery rocks when crossing streams. I ordered 1/2 size down and the fit was perfect. Wearing good hiking/walking socks is a must.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality boots I am a true 13 so i ordered the 13 despite the reviews say order the 1/2 size. These boots dont come with a full length insole insert. I needed the insole because i have no arch and i needed the insole to increase the height of my foot so when i laced the boot some gap between the laces.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from World Class boots I use these for hiking, working, and just kicking around. They are very comfortable, even though I've only worn them a hand full of times. Much easier to break in than my Danner Mountain Lights. I'm a 13, and these are roomy, but the alternative was a 12 which is too snug. If there was a 12.5 I would have gone there, but the size is very workable with the right socks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from EE width should be mentioned in description. These are great boots. My most important point to make, though, is that they are EE (wide) width, and this was not (so far as I could see) mentioned in the description. Granted, these (like many traditional Danners) aren't really too wide, and a lot of people prefer more room. I don't. If you use hiking boots for, well, hiking... you need to be locked in. Good boots should feel tight along the sides, when new. I would've preferred a D (medium) width, and when width is not specified, medium is implied. Danner makes the Light II in a D width, and that's what I was hoping to receive. I'm keeping these, though, because they will still be usable with thick socks and/or winter boot liners. And, they're a pretty good deal for American-made GORETEX-lined boots, at the closeout price. Also, just plain beautifully made. Finally, as someone who has put a lot of miles on similar Danners, I want to point out that these do not come with a removable cushioned footbed, because they are not designed to be used with one. They come with an "airthotic" removable half-footbed, and it is more comfortable than it looks. It works. You might say "oh, there's not enough cushioning". Well, there is a thick layer of cushion foam in the midsole. You can see it from the outside. In other words, you're not standing directly on the cushion, but there is a cushion between your foot and the ground. The boot is designed as a system, and it all works. Just go with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great looking and very comfortable I purchased these boots as an alternative to a heavier winter boot. So far I have found them to be very comfortable straight out of the box, and they look great. I read reviews indicating you should order 1/2 size down from your norm, definitely is the case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality boot Great quality from leather to overall contruction. Fits slightly large so go half size down. Orthotic sole (removable) is a nice feature, though I didn't really need it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great foot boot keep in mind when ordering this boot to have ample foot room. in otherwords, no snug boot feel; better to order size up...also, waterproof all leather prior to wearing them, include the gortex mat'l too....AND repeat after drying them up on a wet day of use...
