The Story

Join Orvis and Syren Shotguns for Women and enjoy hosted wingshooting in Mississippi, with Orvis-endorsed accommodations at Prairie Wildlife. This group trip to the Black Prairie region will cater to new or inexperienced shooters, yet will also provide an opportunity for more experienced shooters to hone skills in a supportive environment. It includes a full day of shooting instruction followed by two days of guided hunting. If the participants wish to transfer an additional instructional session for one day of hunting, that package will be available and priced accordingly. Additional activities will include an educational gundog demonstration, game-cooking experience, and wine tasting with chef Ben E. Keith. Prairie Wildlife, winner of the 2020 Orvis Wingshooting Lodge of the Year award, is a premier conservation-driven sporting estate located in West Point, Mississippi, the heart of the Black Prairie. One of Prairie Wildlife’s priorities has been returning bobwhite quail to their native habitat and restoring endemic plants and wildlife to this unique ecosystem. Though hunting, shooting, and refined dog work distinguish the Prairie Wildlife experience, a stay at the lodge will be accented by exceptional cuisine, luxurious accommodations, and southern hospitality. Deirdre Lang of Syren Shotguns will host this trip, providing access to Syren’s curated lineup of women-specific guns. Prairie Wildlife’s own Xavier Fairley will be on site to provide both new and experienced shooters instruction in the finer points of wingshooting, applicable to both clays course and field. Chef Ben E. Keith will keep attendees well fed, while also lending his experience to demonstrations of game cooking and participatory wine tasting.

Prairie Wildlife is located on the northeast corner of the Golden Triangle, just 10 minutes outside of West Point, and only a 25-to-35-minute drive from Columbus and Starkville. As an Orvis-Endorsed Lodge, they are an ideal venue for anyone looking for an unforgettable shooting experience.
