Orvis-Endorsed Fly-Fishing Expedition in Yakutat, Alaska

Diericks Tsiu River Lodge, AK

Embark on an Orvis-endorsed fly-fishing expedition in Yakutat, Alaska, with the expert guides and accommodations at Dierick's Tsiu River Lodge. Leave Seattle in the morning, have lunch at the lodge, and begin fishing on the Tsiu River by 1:30! It is only a two-and-a-half hour flight on Alaska Airlines from Seattle to Yakutat, and then a 40-minute air taxi flight to Dierick's Tsiu River Lodge. We are located 120 miles north of Yakutat in an area known as the Lost Coast. Because of the remote site, the fishing habitat has been well managed. We have a consistently huge run of silvers every year.

Growing up in Yakutat and fishing all the rivers in the area, Greg and his dad, Ed, always favored flying to the Tsiu River for silvers. In 1997, Greg and Ed decided to build a fishing lodge to share the incredible fishing experience with others.

Greg and his crew will make you feel right at home. This is shown by the huge number of returning clients.

All cabins are private with full baths and showers. Each cabin has two to six beds. All bedding and towels are provided. We run our generators 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Recreation room with fly tying equipment and tables, TV, DVDs, books, and games.
Drying room for fast drying of your wet gear and waders.

And last, but not least, we have a cookhouse with a commercial kitchen. Our chef will cook you three fabulous meals a day, plus there are many snacks to choose from. We also accommodate special diets. You will definitely not go hungry!

We are operate from early August to mid October.

Our main target species is the silver salmon. However, when we open in early August there will be a few sockeye in the river. There are also Dolly Varden throughout the season and towards the end of September there is a run of steelhead.

Our lodge is about two miles from the river. We fish the whole river. The river is slow-moving upstream and fast-moving at the mouth. In most places, you can wade across with waders on. The river bottom is sandy. On one side of the river, in the distance, looms the majestic Wrangell-St. Elias Mountain Range. On the other side of the river lies the beautiful Gulf of Alaska.
