Adding initials, a name, or a quote (where available) is a great way to make a gift more personal, and it helps to identify a piece of luggage or favorite watch should you misplace it. Depending on the item, you can choose from embroidery, metal engraving/etching, leather embossing, hand scribing, or laser engraving.
A commercial sewing machine is used to create characters with thread. Some embroidery consists of thousands of stitches resulting in beautiful and intricate designs.
A truly personal process, hand-scribed items are literally completed by hand, most often with paint and brush. We offer hand scribing on select fly rods.
This process utilizes a metal tip, which is depressed onto a metal item surface. Pressure is applied, and a permanent mark is left behind.
Metal letters are first heated and then stamped onto a leather surface with pressure. Because heat is used, the leather retains the depression indefinitely.
Rather than employing a traditional tool bit, an electronic laser is used to etch images onto a surface. The result is incredible accuracy and clean, crisp edge.
Charges vary from item to item and are listed in the "Buy It Now" box for each item.
The number of characters (which includes letters and spacing) varies from item to item. Please consult the product's description for personalization specifications. Spaces are counted as characters for all personalized products.

Find your hat size easily!
Using a cloth measuring tape, measure around your head at the point at which your hat normally rides (approximately 1” above your ear). If your measurement is between two hat sizes, order the larger size.
Your hat should fit securely, but not tightly—if you shake your head back and forth vigorously, the hat should stay put. The same goes for bending forward: if you bend down, your hat shouldn’t slip off. Make sure, though, that your hat doesn’t bind or pinch. If it does, we recommend you exchange it for the next larger size.

For Patagonia sizing, please refer to the Patagonia Shoe Size Chart, available on every Patagonia shoe and boot page.
In all instances, hold tape firm and level, but not tight.
a. Head: Using a flexible/soft tape measure, start 1" above the ear. Follow around head staying 1" above the ear. This will give your most accurate reading. Then refer to the chart for size.
b. Neck Circumference: Wrap tape around to the base of your front neck and allow room for wearing comfort. OR measure the collar length of a favorite shirt.
c. Sleeve Length: From the center back of your neck with your arm slightly bent, follow the tape around to your wrist bone.
d. Chest: Wrap a tape measure evenly around the fullest part under your arms.
e. Waist: Wrap tape around your natural waistline, or where you actually wear your pants.
f. Seat/Hip: Standing with your feet together, measure around the fullest part of your hip (approx. 7-8" below the waist). Don’t forget to keep the tape level.
g. Inseam: Best taken from an existing pair of pants you like. Measure along the garment inseam from the crotch seam to the hem.
h. Glove Hand: Measure all the way around the flat part of your hand, excluding the thumb, and around the widest part at the knuckles. Use the chart above to convert this measurement in inches to your corresponding glove size.
