The finest guided WILD bird hunts in Wyoming. We offer the longest Sage Grouse season in the United States (15 days). Kyle Waggoner offers guided hunts for Ruffed grouse, Spruce grouse, Chukar and Hungarian Partridge; we have top notch leases, guides, and dogs to ensure that our hunts are second-to-none. We do offer a secondary hunt option in Southwest Nebraska where we offer hunts for WILD Pheasant, Bobwhite Quail and Prairie Chicken.

Region/ Terrain Where you Hunt

Kyle Waggoner hunts large private leases throughout Fremont County, Wyoming. We are hunting varied terrain, from Sage brush pastures to gently rolling mountain hayfields. When hunting Ruffed and Spruce grouse we will be in steep timbered country, and when hunting Chukar we will be hiking on steep, rocky ground. Do to our commitment to chasing WILD birds we, will sometimes encounter snowy, muddy, and slippery conditions.

Typical Weather By Season

Generally, a high desert weather pattern is expected. Days can be semi windy, but precipitation is not the rule during bird season. Early season can see some high temperatures and bright sun, and late season can be quite chilly, particularly at night. Late-season snows are not uncommon. Please prepare for all types of weather, as conditions can change quickly here in the West.


Sample of Typical Itinerary

Generally, hunters fly into the Riverton, WY airport, and meet guides the evening before the hunt for dinner and cocktails. An early rise and a hearty breakfast precede 4 to 5 hours of hunting. Midday, we break for a hearty field lunch, then return to the field for an afternoon hunt. Those who choose will join us for dinner and cocktails after celebrating a day of chasing birds.


Species you hunt by Season

Sage Grouse, Ruffed Grouse, Spruce Grouse, Chukar and Hungarian Partridge. We do offer Pheasant, Bobwhite Quail and Prairie Chicken on our private lease in Southwest Nebraska.


What is provided to the Customer?

Kyle Waggoner has numerous packages to meet customer needs. Generally, a day’s hunting includes a local Guide and Dogs, transport to and from the field, non-alcoholic beverages, and lunch. There are two packages we provide:

What Should Customers Bring?

Hunters with Kyle Waggoner are responsible for providing their Upland essentials. These include layers of appropriate clothing, comfortable boots, a game bag or vest, a shotgun, eye protection, hearing protection, and suitable ammunition. Moderately choked guns in 12-28 ga. are sufficient depending on species you decide to pursue. Guests will also need to purchase suitable licensure from the state of Wyoming.

How are accommodations handled?

The details of lodging and meals will be determined upon reservation, and we will help to ensure that guests find suitable and comfortable lodging.

Meals and accommodations are available in both Lander Wyoming and Grant Nebraska. These locations offer easy access to both our hunting operations. Please let us know about any food allergies/dietary restrictions, and we will work to accommodate your needs.
