Orvis-Endorsed Fly-Fishing Expedition in Aniak, Alaska

Midnight Sun Trophy Angling Adventures, AK

We pride ourselves on the size, vitality, and quality of our indigenous Northern Pike. Yukon Pike grow larger because they live in one of the world's most productive salmon-spawning regions, and, thus, have an abundant diet of salmon protein. At Midnight Sun, guides are charged to average ten, fourty-inch Northerns per trip, per client. Half of their clients catch a fourty-five inch or larger Northern Pike, but guides are hunting for the real trophies: fourty-seven inch and longer, Yukon Monsters. Lodge record is fifty-five inches.

Although we do not proactively record more world records (in interest of preserving the giant genetics), Barry Reynolds recently caught a fish, while shooting his most recent DVD, that would have broken all of the fly-rod records with Midnight Sun. Out of the possible seventeen world records (all tackle and line class) seven were caught on the Yukon, more than any other fishery in the world. Midnight Sun still holds three fly-rod world records (more than any lodge in the world).

As remote as Western Alaska is, Midnight Sun offers first-class accommodations aboard their 67-foot yacht including individual bedrooms, full-time chef, and cold beer to round out the experience. The ability to experience the true Alaskan bush, with all the comforts of home, is what made this a trip of a lifetime.
