Nebraska Upland Pheasant School

Details

Pheasant Bonanza offers upland hunts on more than 2,500 hunt-able acres overlooking the Missouri River floodplain. Crop rows of milo and corn are interspersed with native prairie grasses and wet creek bottoms, so the cover attracts and holds birds. With a strong early-release and supplemental fly-out stockings, the birds are abundant, cagey and long-tailed, with ample wild reproduction and no shortage of challenging presentations. In short, its Midwest hospitality that keeps guests coming back to celebrate the birds and dogs that complete the experience.

With instruction based on the English Churchill method, our instinctive approach to shotgunning offers both the novice and the seasoned veteran a complete shooting system and includes the following:

  • Personalized instruction from Trent Leichleiter and the staff of Pheasant Bonanza.
  • Basic shotgun safety.
  • Proper stance and how to mount a shotgun so you will shoot exactly where you're looking.
  • Proper shotgun fit.
  • How to shoot all types of clays and hunting scenarios: going away, crossing, low incomers, singles, and doubles.
  • Guided hunts to take your learnings directly to the field.

About Pheasant Bonanza

Pheasant Bonanza, an Orvis-Endorsed Wingshooting Lodge nestled among hardwood ridges overlooking the Missouri River floodplain, is aptly named. Hunters at Pheasant Bonanza Hunt Club and Kennel make good use of the resource. What began in 2004 as a hunting facility for Omaha corporate groups has bloomed into a world-class, international shooting destination. In 2015, the glorious 3-story, 15-room Benjamin Schoonover Lodge was completed to afford guests luxury accommodation with views overlooking the Missouri. A commercial kitchen and fireside dining room offer hearty regional cuisine, making the most of local beef and pork, and rolling out a steady parade of home-baked delights. On the hilltop above the Lodge, Pheasant Bonanza showcases an extensive clays facility featuring skeet, trap, 5-stand, and a varied 20-station sporting clays course. Pheasant Bonanza is just 50 miles from either Omaha or Sioux City, IA, and several regional airports are nearby for those who wish to fly private.
