Flying B Ranch is a premier Orvis Endorsed Wingshooting Lodge that occupies 5000 acres of prime upland habitat in central Idaho's Clearwater drainage. The property is just outside the small town of Kamiah, and just over an hour from the Lewiston, ID airport. From its perch on a sidehill of Lawyer Creek Canyon, the 14,000 square foot Lodge overlooks six miles of the historic and picturesque Lawyer Creek, a waterway that Lewis and Clark used on their return trip east in 1806.
The Lodge at Flying B Ranch is an elegant log structure with a quintessentially Western flair. It features a grand antique bar, expansive views of the canyon, a lovely outdoor deck and patio space, and a refined dining experience provided by Chef Ryan Nelson. The Lodge has 14 private, single-occupancy rooms each with satellite TV, interior and exterior doors, queen bed, telephone, and private bathroom. A hot tub is available for guest use, and massage services are available on-site. Guests who enjoy a walk or a run can do so on the several miles of town and ranch road that run up and down the canyon. The Lodge at Flying B also features a pro shop stocked with those last-minute items you may need.
Flying B prides itself on having a warm, welcoming, and cordial staff who personally welcome guests and attend to every need. General Manager Jeremi Syron and his wife Karen are joined by Lodge Manager Carol Langston and Wingshooting/Fishing Manager Rich Coe in delivering the pinnacle of service. Guides, Lodge/Kitchen Staff, and all support staff see exemplary service as a hallmark of the Flying B experience; the primary focus of the staff is to make certain that guests feel they are part of the Flying B Family.
Guests at Flying B chase Hungarian Partridge through the creek bottom crop fields, Chukars along the rims that stair-step to the valley floor, California Valley Quail in the brushy draws, and Pheasants everywhere in between. This diversity allows the guides at Flying B to tailor each hunt to suit the individual wingshooter's abilities and desires.
The Guide Team at Flying B is comprised of some of the most seasoned, personable guides in the business. These guides have a collective decades of experience, and are eager to make sure that each hunt is unique, memorable, and fulfilling. Guides are professional and engaged and are willing to provide instruction in the field when asked. Moreover, the ranch dogs, largely English Pointers and German Shorthairs, have been trained and selected over generations to make the most of the varied cover at the Flying B.
Additional to the extensive field hunting opportunities, Flying B also boasts a 10-station sporting clays course that offers myriad target presentations. Host Lynne Green will conduct instructional sessions at one or more of the stations and will also lead the group in a just-for-fun clays competition. The clays course is situated along the rim of Suzie Creek Canyon, allowing for unique presentations and some glorious views.
Host Lynne Green is an internationally-recognized clays shooter and instructor who heads up Syren, the women's-specific subsidiary of Caesar Guerini shotguns. Lynne has personally ushered hundreds of women into the shotgun sports and remains a steadfast ambassador for female shotgunners. As host, Lynne will provide instruction on the clays course and in the field while also helping guests sample a variety of Syren demo guns. Lynne is a wealth of knowledge and a ton of fun; in addition to her skills with a shotgun, Lynne is an avid photographer and engaging speaker who spends the bulk of her year on the road representing Syren at shooting events. More on Lynne here.
This trip is scheduled to include 3 full days of hunting and 4 nights at the Lodge. This itinerary provides far more than a simple hunting trip; it also allows a group of avid female wingshooters to engage in shooting instruction in a supportive environment, Syren shotgun demos, dog training presentations, and game cooking education. The sample itinerary looks as follows.
