Sweater Folding 101
Folding a sweater is an art not to be taken lightly. By following the four simple steps below, you’ll find an unwrinkled favorite neat and ready to go anytime you need one.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE PROPER FOLDING SPOT
You can’t properly fold a sweater without a flat open space. Use a table, bed top, or the top of your washer or dryer to lay out your sweater.
START WITH THE ARMS
Place the sweater flat on a clean surface, tag-side down. Fold one arm straight across the back of the sweater. Fold the other arm over the first. (Crossing the arms over the back keeps small wrinkles off the front.)
FOLD IN THE SIDES
Next, envision lines running down each side from the neck to the hem, forming a rectangle in the middle of the back. Neatly fold in the left and right sides over these lines on top of the crossed arms to create that rectangle shape.
FOLD IN HALF
Sticking with geometry, create a nice square by folding your sweater in half from top to bottom, shoulders to hem. Store your folded sweater with the front facing up.
Creating a flawless fold for sweaters is easy. Remember, neatly folded sweaters mean less wrinkles and, bonus(!), more space in your drawers for that new one you’ve been craving.
