The Story

The Spotted Horse Ranch is located 16 miles south of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, along the banks of the Hoback River. The valley cradling the Hoback River has been cultivated by working ranchers for generation. As times changed, the simple log homes and rustic barns gave way to guest ranches for the "dudes" who came up from the cities to experience the true West. Fly fishing is an important part of the ranch, with fly casting instructions and a stocked pond available for all casting abilities.

Date Range

The SHR opens May 15 and closes October 15th. Fishing begins to peak in July, with optimal fishing in September and October.

What is Provided to Customer

The Spotted Horse Ranch supplies fly rods, reels, waders, nets and booties. Guests are responsible for flies, leaders, tippets and their fishing license.

Region/Terrain Where You Fish

At an elevation of 6300 feet, the SHR offers wade fishing along the banks of the Hoback River, Willow Creek and Snake River. We also offer driftboats for those anglers hoping to experience new water...the Snake, Green, and Salt rivers are all incredible fishing locations.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This place was a dump & embarrassing endorsement. The finest room was uncomfortable. The staff was few and far between. Little Orvis equipment to fish & what was available was old or broken. I had to contract with outside service for guided fishing trip & equipment.
