The fly-fishing season is from late May to the end of October.
Transportation, flies, and leaders are provided by the guide.
Lunch is provided with full-day trips.
Trips are customized to the client with access to the San Miguel River, Dolores River, their tributaries, alpine lakes, as well as hiking to mountain streams. Elevations are from 5,000 to 10,000 feet.
We have Colorado blue skies and the possibility of afternoon showers in late July and August. We also typically have cooler mornings with water temperatures of around 40-50 degrees.
The customer is picked up at their accommodations. A half-day trip lasts 4 hours and a full-day trip (which includes lunch) lasts about 8 hours. Pick up times for half day trips are 8:30 am or 1:30 pm.
Rainbow, brown, brook, cutthroat and cuttbow trout are found in the waters around the area. Continuing hatches of caddis, stoneflies, PMDs, and BWOs are common.
Quick-dry shorts or pants and socks are best under waders. A fleece jacket for early morning and a rain jacket in case of showers is a good idea. Polarized sunglasses are helpful if available.
