What Should Customers Bring?
While we recommend our clients use their tried and true equipment whenever possible, we understand the hassles of flying or traveling with fly rods, so we do offer rental equipment (fly rods, reels, waders, boots) if needed. Our guides provide flies relevant to the area and the time of year. We recommend clients select a new leader for their equipment prior to departing for the day’s trip.
- Fishing License (can be picked up in the shop)
- Recommended rods and reels are 5- and 6-weight
- Fresh leader for your fly line (our guides can help you select the appropriate leader.)
- Waders for our wade trips - rarely needed for our guided float trips.
- Sunscreen
- Bug spray
- Long-sleeved shirts and pants - for sun and bug protection
- Rain jacket and rain pants
- A warm layer, such as a fleece or insulated jacket
- Sunglasses (polarized) for eye protection
- Hat

Species You Fish for by Season
The Green River and New Fork River valley is host to rainbow, brown, brook, cutthroat, lake, and golden trout all season.
Region/Terrain Where You Fish
We fish streams and lakes located in the Wind River Range and the Wyoming Range, including the famous headwaters of the Green River and the legendary Blue-Ribbon New Fork River, as well as a number of private waters for which we have exclusive access. Our backcountry fishing trips take place at some of the over 2,000 pristine alpine lakes in the Wind River Range. We also can run guided trips on Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge.
Typical Weather by Season
In the spring, expect cool nights in the low to mid 30s with fresh days in the mid 50s. Summer nights can range from the low 40s to mid 60s with daytime temperatures from mid 70s to mid 80s. With fall come cooler temperatures at night-low to mid 30s with milder daytime temps in the mid to upper 60s. Weather changes rapidly and without warning in the mountain west, so always be prepared for afternoon thundershowers at the very least. With inclement weather, the temperature also can drop significantly-bring warm layers too, just in case.
