Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top guide for a reason! Just got back from a couple of days fishing the McCloud with John Rickart of Wild Waters. With John, I had the most successful and enjoyable trip I have ever had. There is a reason why John and Wild Waters are the top guides period! John knows the river, the fish, the history, the flies, the stories, and all the aspects desired to make it a special experience I will never forget. And I will definitely do it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional Guide Service! I just came off two days of guided fly fishing the McCloud River with Chuck of Wild Waters Fly Fishing. I fish a lot and I can honestly say that these were two of the best days of my life on the water. Chuck was incredible. I love to learn and am always looking to improve. Chuck was eager (yet patient) to share his endless knowledge of the river, ecology, casting and fish fighting skills. He got us on a ton of fish, all the while, keeping a great attitude and keeping us laughing the entire time. I would highly recommend Wild Waters to anyone interested in fishing the Shasta County area and I will definitely be back out with them as soon as I can.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply the Best! I've fished with Wild Waters a handful of times (most recently coming off of 2 days on the McCloud with Chuck) and have been impressed every time. They truly go above/beyond to ensure their clients have a great time, learn a lot, and catch fish. In addition to great guiding skills (e.g. fly selection, rigging, etc.) the technical instruction (casting feedback, etc.) and ecology (bugs, flora/fauna) are great. To top it all off, they're great guys - fun to spend a day with, share a beer with, etc. - a lot of laughs and good times. I'm excited to continue to fish with them for years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Experience! A friend and I booked an early season trip on the McCloud River with John Rickard from Wild Waters Fly fishing. What an amazing experience! John offered the perfect balance of instruction and knowledge for a great trip. We had a 20 fish day and left the river better fishermen. He taught us some great techniques and no one knows the McCloud better than John. To make things even better he served us homemade clam chowder and fresh baked bread for lunch!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unique McCloud Experience Our guide Chuck took us on a unique visit to the inlet of the McCloud Reservoir. Where the Upper McCloud and Mud Creek meet, he facilitated an amazing fly fishing experience including some awesome dry fly time. As if this weren't enough, we drifted the river arm of the reservoir until we literally caught too many fish to count. As always, Chuck helped us understand the ecology of the area, its rich history as well as providing guidance in our fishing techniques in the most positive and supportive manner. He is a great person and an amazing guide!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Klamath River Winter Fishing I fished with John from Wild Waters on the Klamath River and had an amazing day. As a guide he is incredibly knowledgeable and knows the waters we fished well. As a teacher he is made of patience and understands how people grow in fishing skill through support. We fished tough conditions- higher flows and murky water- but John put us on the fish all day. He was an amazing host making sure we were warm and hydrated. Lunch was so delicious. John is great company- resource of fish knowledge, local water issues, funny, witty and smart. I had fished with Chuck from Wild Waters previously on the McCloud River and thought I had fished with the best then... John goes to show that Wild Waters has amazing guides all around!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best, most knowledgeable guides My friends and I have fished with Chuck Volckhausen and John Rickard of Wild Waters Fly Fishing many, many times over the past 10 years. They are flat out the best, most knowledgeable guides that I have ever fished with. We had another great trip earlier this week floating the Upper Sac and the Klamath with Chuck. He knows the rivers like the back of his hand and consistently put us right over fish. Thanks again, Chuck.
