Potomac River Description

The Potomac is a large river running from West Virginia all the way to the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. In this section anglers will find a variety of opportunity to fish for Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Musky, Walleye, Catfish, Carp and Panfish. The Potomac is dramatically affected by rainfall, rising very fast and also falling fast. Fishing from a boat or wading can both be effective for most species. ...

Techniques & Tips

Always start with poppers this time of year, seeing as its clearly the superior way of bass fishing. Look for deeper holes along banks and plug'em in! As the water rises, transition to clousers, deceivers, baitfish/crawdads, etc.

7-Day Forecast

A bit more of the same as last week. We're expecting rains today (Monday) and throughout the end of the week. The river has returned to a relatively average level and flow.
