San Diego Offshore, California Fly Fishing Reports & Conditions
My tips of the week
All launch ramps are open and the red tide is disappearing. Finding life is the key to finding fish. Look for birds or dolphin that are feeding on the baitfish We are starting to see some of the first Tuna of the season but the bite is still not consistent yet.

Fishing conditions: Weather is looking great and the Tuna are going wild. its still tough to get on the right school but if you can make the shot you will be rewarded with a bluefin or Yellowfin Tuna. Sharks have been hit or miss but when you hit it will be a monster.

Inshore temperature: 60 Degrees F

Offshore temperature: 60 Degrees F

Type of bait fish are feeding on: Sardines, Anchovies, Mackerel, Squid

Fish species: Mako shark, Blue Shark, Bonito, Yellowtail, Barracuda, Bluefin

Fishing season: Year round

Nearest airport: San Diego Int. airport

Techniques & Tips

Big rods and reels are key. Tuna you want 10, 12 and 14 weight with heavy sink lines to get the fly down. for Sharks 12, 14 and 16 weights with a floating line.
