A few fresh fish around but mostly winter fish. Fishing is spotty, you can go a long time between bites but when you find one there have been more close by lately.

February is usually the start of the salmon fry hatch. Black stones will follow in early March

Lower Manistee River Description

The Manistee River below Tippy Dam is a world class steelhead, salmon and brown trout (both resident and lake run) fishery. Fishing is open year round. Steelhead are available from Sept to May, salmon from July to October and resident trout all year.
