Crowley Lake, California Fly Fishing Reports & Conditions
My tips of the week
When you are fishing in a fleet of boats and/or tubes, always try and get a spot on the perimeter. When it is tough go to a single fly and go small. Look at it from the fish's point of view. Every time you bite one of those two size 16-18 flies 16" apart, not wiggling, and not swimming up, they never taste good at a minimum and sometimes they take you for a lip ride. Oh, a nice little single #20 . . . I'll give it a try.

The north arm continues fishing just about as good as it gets. There are very few fish anywhere else. 'Throw in a few Perch and Tui Chub and the full-five Grand Slam, Rainbow, Brown Cutthroat, Perch and Tui Chub have been managed by several in the last week. McGee is pretty much done for the time being. Occasional fish in close to the weeds but the few fish there are very spread out Some fish still in the Hiltons and Crooked, but not in big numbers. The Perch fry are subsiding and stripping has been pretty slow compared to fishing under the indicator.
