|The Orvis Flagship Fly-Fishing School Facility
In 1965 Leigh Perkins determined that there was a need for a fly-fishing school as he believed there were many people who were simply too intimidated by the sport to try it. In 1966, under the direction of the legendary Bill Cairns, Orvis opened its first fly-fishing school, a three-day affair for $75. Since then we’ve educated more than 35,000 people at Orvis schools all over the country.

Excellent Class -
By: Mark25 from Manchester, Vt
With two instructors for six students, the class enjoyed a lot of personalized instruction. The instructors complimented one another, and I found it to be quite helpful. Even though the day was extremely windy, I found it to be quite helpful as it forced students (me at least) to focus on form and technique. This was an excellent class.
Great School to Refine Your Cast -
By: troutbumvt from Vermont
I attended this school last year and enjoyed it immensely. The video analysis was extremely helpful, allowing you to see your mistakes for yourself. We also had plenty of time casting on the water and practiced casting to specific targets. Great instructors, solid teaching techniques. Loved it.
