This is probably my favorite nymph. It looks nifty and regularly produces fish.
Great pattern -

The quality of this fly is amazing. I can’t tie flies and I usually buy mine from a local fly shop… Until now! None can compare to Orvis. This is a very successful pattern for me. Caught lots of trout.
Glad I tried this fly! -

Great on blue lines or stockers. Great as a dropper or the back fly on a tandem nymph rig. Have worn them out on delayed harvest water this fall. Have also caught several nice wild fish; including a big 21" fall brown on the Davidson (high sticking a seam w/ a heavy stone fly up front to get it down). Awesome bug!

High Quality craftsmanship. Durable, consistent, and true to description. Native brooks loved it in the SNP
"The Holy Grail" -

A very good looking nymph... You would think it would live up to the hype, but simply falls short. I bought several not long ago hoping for more productive days on the river. I Caught 1 really nice Brown Trout in a couple of hours using the Holy Grail. I rated it at 3 stars because it really didn't do any better than any other nymph in my fly box... I will, however, continue to use them hoping for better days.
Beautiful Fly -

Beautiful fly, clearly tied with care. All materials were well placed, and this fly is going to last a long time. Unless of course a huge trout breaks it off!
Holy Smokes! -

The trout I fish for have never seen the Holy Grail. They REALLY like it! A good sinker with a dry/dropper setup in fast water and effective on the larger fish.

I haven't actually fished with this nymph yet. Wanted to disclose that up front. I plan to once we get closer to spring. This was one of the flies recommended by the local Orvis guide. If you look at the photo... My first order was all hackle. They arrived knotted and looked nothing like the photo. A quick chat with Orvis customer service fixed the problem. They sent a fresh order that looked much better. I suppose with all "hand tied" flies, you should expect a variation from one fly to the next and the occasional bad batch. I'm just glad Orvis does such a good job of standing behind their products.
