Mixed Feelings -
By: bishopje from Carlisle, MA
I purchased this vest as an accessory for my Barbour Balfour jacket. I love the jacket, but have mixed feelings about the vest. The vest itself is very nice, and I'm very happy with it as a stand-alone product. The problem is that the vest does not attach very well into the jacket. The two sides zip in and there's a loop/snap for attachment at the top. But there's not attachment point near the sleeves of the jacket, making quick entry to the vest/jacket combo rather complicated. My arms go around the vest - vs. through the vest - and then through the jacket sleeves; and it takes a bit of time to get it all on right. An alternative is to unattached the vest from the jacket and then just wear the jacket over the unattached vest, but that kind of defeats the purpose of having it all together. I'm surprised Barbour has not corrected what is an obvious design flaw!
Need to Fix it -

The liner does extend the the wear of the Beaufort for winter wear. The brutal winter in Northeast Ohio a heavy duty parka was the norm, but again the liner added wear time. My issue is I can't believe Barbour has not corrected the major flaw in the design of the liner. That is the way it attaches around the shoulders. One small snap! they could modify the coat and vest when you send it in to be rewaxed. I would be happy to pay for the fix.
Great addition... -
Having purchased my Barbour jacket, getting the liner to add warmth made lots of sense. Putting the two together and giving it the Wisconsin test, proved this to be correct! I will also look forward to wearing it as a stand-alone...

Husband did not want a vest but got him this. He now wears it daily inside during the artic weather and loves it. Also used as a liner for his Barbour.
Great for multi-purposes -

I did not realized the versatility of this liner. To be honest, I have worn the liner more as a jacket by itself versus as a liner for my jacket. It is comfortable, warm, and attractive. The pockets of the liner are a major attribute. Recommend it for anyone that owns a Barbour Jacket
Great Liner for Fall -

Got this quilted liner for myself for christmas to compliment my Barbour Bedale and I'm pretty happy about my choice to get it. First thing, sizing: match the size with the corresponding barbour size, NOT your regular chest size. Otherwise, the liner wont zip in, and thus is pointless. Looks great worn as a vest and doesn't look bulky under a jacket. I think this vest will keep you warm until late fall, after that its much too light. Very thin, but decently warm.
Fantastic Multipurpose Vest -

I wear this vest both as outerwear over dress shirts and thicker sweaters and as a layer underneath sport coats. Unsure of the sizing, I bought both a medium and a large, and at an athletic-build 6'2", 185 lbs., the medium fit me best for the fitted look and feel I wanted. Decide how you want to wear it and buy according to fit. Looks and fits amazing, impeccable construction, and very warm as well. Perfect for a refined, gentlemanly appearance that's not too "outdoorsy".
Since 1894, England's J. Barbour & Sons have produced clothes perfectly suited to life in the country. Their quality, durable clothing is cut for an active lifestyle and the fit varies according to each garment's design and purpose.
The sizing of Barbour’s clothing is divided into three segments:
In the case of Barbour outerwear, sizing takes into account the appropriate layers beneath. That means you do not need to order a size up for a comfortable fit.
